The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. We also ate there during the evening. The choice on the menu was great as were the meals! The bedroom was a fabulous size and the bathroom looked newly renovated, but get those towel hooks up Ian 😁. The staff were amazing and very helpful as were the hosts. We'd definitely return if we are in the area.

We had a great 1 night day stay. Really helpful, friendly staff. Room was perfect, very clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed an evening meal too which was delicious, very reasonably priced and freshly cooked. Again the serving staff were super friendly and very attentive. We also paid for breakfast which was excellent value for money and freshly cooked. Also the biggest pot of tea and milk. Would definitely recommend!!

Lanchester is a very pleasant large village.

Lanchester is a very pleasant large village. It has good free parking, a handful of nice shops and several places to eat. It is an ideal location to visit Beamish open air museum, The Tanfield Railway, Angel of the North and the historic city of Durham with its fine cathedral.

handy location for visiting durham's variety of sites. we chose to dine at the place we were staying as the food is excellent there. we used the park and ride into durham city and it was brilliant and good value for money, parked for free and £2.00 per person for the bus - made visiting so stress free.

This was my first time in this area, I stayed in a rural environment and the views were amazing. I got lucky with sunny days and traveling around the area, the rolling hills were very eyecatching. Lovely views from the hill tops, there are lots of hills, not so good if you have trouble getting about, however driving around and taking in the views in the quiet country lanes was a big highlight for me. The towns are easy to find and are clustered around a twenty mile area, which means you don't have to travel far to see new things or visit a different towns.

Lanchester was a lovely location with easy access to Durham. There were a variety of restaurants, we chose to eat in Clinton's which was next door to our accommodation, the old post office. The food was the best restaurant food I have had for a very long time. I would highly recommend the area and the facilities I used.

Really, we were not staying in Lanchester itself, but it does have two good restaurants and a good range of local shops, and there is free parking throughout, and there is a bypass that keeps unwanted traffic out of the town centre.

Quite simply my favourite place to stay. Many hotels claim to make you feel at home: this one really does. The host is an absolute delight; the house and grounds are secluded and magical; and how many places let you walk and play with their dogs? This was not my first visit and it certainly won’t be the last.
