It was quiet and clean and very peaceful! Very chill neighborhood got some small bakery with fresh food and nearby grocery stores! We stayed in the king room, it was lovely for us couple. Lots of nice nearby takeaways (Gurkha is an amazing Nepalese/Indian restaurant, kohinoor (not good we had to throw away the food), just a suggestion for anyone who decides on a takeaway). Even though the bathroom was sharing it was clean and well maintained - I am very particular about clean toilets and bathroom and was skeptical of sharing initially, but this was good. Beach is a short walk away, Edinburgh and the surroundings are a walk friendly place so expect lots of walking. There's always buses running throughout to and fro from the city centre. Our room was also very clean and tidy and we tried to leave it the same way :) The place did justice as per the pictures and info shown.

1) Hands down the staff! The gentleman in the concierge have been super helpful and welcoming! Musselburgh is a lovely little town, close to the beach, river, race course and handy to buses/trains etc. Nice little shops and some lovely restaurants, new one called Lido was fab .. A great for walking or relaxing. People lovely and helpful.

It was very handy for local transport into Edinburgh. Nice walks down to the harbour. Very close to shops and other restaurants. It is,a better place to stay instead of trying to park in Edinburgh, which is a fabulous city. We went on a hop on hop off tour bus, it was brilliant. Fantastic city and the sights were amazing 👏

Just very disappointing, nice looking pictures online but...

Just very disappointing, nice looking pictures online but the reality is far removed. Probably ok for 4 lads looking for a place to crash and go into the city but the slightly more discerning amongst you will find this second floor property, complete with ghetto style entrance and stairways rather lacking.

Only ever gone for the horse racing but already looking at a long weekend here as it is only a short hop into Edinburgh and not too far from North Berwick, so good central point. I still need to see more of the old historic Musselburgh too.

I was born in Musselburgh and come to visit family. However we do activities while here. Musselburgh is a typical Scottish town with the road going through the centre of shops. Like many towns a lot are closed. It is pleasant with the river running through and many places to walk. It is close to the beach which is relatively clean. It is a good based to get into Edinburgh and a bus service which means you don't have to take the car. On the other side is the coast road which takes you to some lovely places. Alao a bit of history there.

The town seems a little run down in places but the racecourse and the harbour looked good. Train links to Edinburgh and the east coast. Close to A1 motorway and Edinburgh bypass. Has a good selection of supermarkets quite close together, Aldi, Lidl, Tesco and an Asda just off A1 motorway. Navigation around town fairly easy and driving through also.

The location could not be more perfect, very close to town centre and 5 mins walk from the racecourse which is where we visited. We were made to feel so welcome by the hostess and her dog Scout (ask about the tights if you stay here as you will get a smile). The hotel room overlooked the racecourse and the room was big, the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast is delivered to your door and was lovely and fresh, the coffee was amazing and the scrambled egg so delicious. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable, we will be back!

The staff was friendly from the moment we walked in the door. The room is above an adorable pub & the locals are friendly. The room was far better than I expected, updated bathroom and the bed was very comfortable. We didn’t hear any noise from outside or the neighboring rooms. The town is a quaint seaside place and easy to walk around. I wish we would’ve stayed here more nights. I can’t wait to stay here again on my next trip to Scotland.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ravelston House. We chose to stay here as we thought it was more reasonable in terms of quality and price than staying in Edinburgh. The staff were friendly and helpful and we couldn't rate the food in the restaurant more highly! We had our first experience with haggis - trying haggis bonbons and also the Balmoral Chicken. They were delicious! The room decor was modern with a Scottish tartan wool theme.

Very clean place, a large room with comfortable beds and nice garden. The owners are super nice and we had a really good time in Musselburgh. For us it was perfect to be outside of the city. The place is very close to the sea and there we found a lovely promenade and harbor. Also its very close to shops and restaurants and public transport.
