The reception and wait staff were excellent. They always made sure everything was ok with your stay. The food at Gino’s was top notch, as was the service. The view from my room was spectacular; a view of the Tyne and bridges. Great Location.

The room, the en-suite and the furniture was great. The bed large and very comfortable. Many pillows provided. The TV was very good (but didn't use it much). The en-suite was excellent and there were both a shower and a bath tub. I used both, and was very pleased also with the variety of towels and soaps provided. The breakfast was fantastic. A very large selection of food and drinks to choose from, and all of a very high quality!

FAQs about hotels in Newcastle upon Tyne

The Spirit of the North

A former Industrial Revolution hub, Newcastle has reinvented itself into a vibrant, forward-thinking city. Although no longer brewed here, Newcastle Brown Ale, or Newkie Brown, is synonymous with the city, so it’s no surprise that the nightlife is fantastic.

From the O2 Academy to the Sage Music Center, the Newcastle music venues are among the best in England. The city also has a thriving arts scene, including The Biscuit Factory – Britain’s largest original art store.

Equally as good is the Newcastle shopping. The Central Arcade is in an attractive Victorian building, and across the River Tyne in Gateshead is the Metro Center, Europe’s largest shopping and leisure complex. Indeed, these 2 cities have a healthy rivalry that plays out in sports, architecture and, sometimes, the bizarre.

Gateshead boasts the Angel of The North, a huge statue that is already its most recognized (and controversial) symbol. While in Newcastle the Vampire Rabbit sits above a door near St Nicholas’ Cathedral. Newcastle United Football Club has the most prestigious record, but Gateshead Stadium has seen many a star compete at its international athletics meets.

To the west of the city are some remains of Hadrian’s Wall and further north is Newcastle Airport. See Booking.com for a range of accommodations all over this happening city.

To all you unfit people out there, just be aware that there is a climb into the main shopping/social area of Newcastle (Grey street/rd),lovely coming down it,but he'll on your legs going up the first couple of times. Lovely riverside market on Sundays that we didn't know about, food stalls from all over the world there, plus lovely little independent craft stalls. Plenty to do in town if bad weather head to the indoor food/shopping area called Eldon square, lots of shops and food retailers all under one roof, plenty of choice for everyone.

Really enjoyed that you could walk everywhere easily.

Really enjoyed that you could walk everywhere easily. Plenty of nice restaurants for an evening meal, shops were good. A classic tour around St. James Park was well worth the visit, very enjoyable. Went on the Metro to the coastal town of Tynemouth, again, well worth a visit. We also went to the theatre and saw a fabulous show. Would highly recommend Newcastle for a mid week break.

The town centre is very compact so many of the main attractions are in easy walking distance. We came for the Mercury Awards 2025 and had a great evening with a lovely, good natured local audience. I have been to Bentley's before. It is quirky in an engaging part of Newcastle uphill to the west of the city centre. I must stress the word "uphill". I quickly learned all about the buses back to the hotel... My room, this time, was dominated by a large naked brick gable above the beds, not ideal as Storm Darragh was rattling the rafters. Nevertheless, I was happy in the short time I spent in the room; it was reasonably clean, spacious and the beds were comfortable.

It was a good location close to the quayside and bridge, it was a nice walk along the river to the city centre. We visited Newcastle for the football and this hotel suited us well. The breakfast buffet was also very nice with plenty of options to choose from. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel was in a quiet location.
