Ricky is really a village which has become a commuter suburb, set close to the Grand Union canal and an 'aquadrome' of several lakes and walking paths. It's quite a long way out of central London - at least 30 minutes by train - which can be expensive, but it's a great place to stay. There are numerous cafes, pubs and restaurants in the village. I know Ricky pretty well, but can imagine tourists visiting London finding it a pleasant place to stay, There are not many places to stay, but recently Premier Inns opened a hotel beside the Batchworth Lock on the canal, and there are apartments for short-term stays.

The apartment once inside was absolutely fine but the entrance and parking was a real issue for us. We will need to stay in this area again because of family but will have to try and research any accommodation more thoroughly with the parking.

The hotel building itself is really lovely and the room’s are decorated beautifully. The quality of the decor and furnishings is really high and it really is very stylish. Gorgeous toiletries too. The outside gardens and table areas are amazing, with lots of fairy light/ and lanterns in the evening. It’s quite magical! The food in the restaurant is super tasty (breakfast and dinner). And service with a smile (thanks Nish!)

This was a great find. Great location, value, host, property, facilities and cleanliness. If you want to visit London for a few days you can stay here in Rickmansworth - leave your car safely in the drive and take public transport into London (or out to Amersham). You can get the bus to Rickmansworth Station (or 20 mins walk) and take the Tube. Rickmansworth has nice walks, nice pubs and nice places to eat too.

The flat was nice and clean, and mostly well-equipped, with a good view out over Rickmansworth. The WiFi was good (once you find the small QR code on the coffee table!). For us it was conveniently placed, being close to both the railway station (for trips to London) and to relatives who live in Rickmansworth.
