Stamford is a beautiful Georgian Town, very well kept, lovely traditional hotels, churches and a lovely river flowing through the centre of the town. Burghley House and gardens is well worth a visit. if you want a trip through a period drama setting, Stamford is the place.

    A most beautiful place.

A most beautiful place. Delighted that I booked a Stamford Town Guided Tour for our first morning. Beautiful and contrasted churches.. Disappointed by Burghley House: one had to walk a long way to get a full external view and endless heavy baroque not to my taste. Go to Hatfield House instead! Delightful water meadows, well worth the walk. Shortage of places to eat particularly on a Sunday evening. Evidence of a rich cultural life. If I had to downsize or move Stamford would be high on my list of possible locations

We have often stopped at Stamford on our way north up the A1 - for coffee; for a walk around this delightful town; or get a delicious ice cream; or do some shopping; or exercise the dog on a long trip. The car park in the central park by the river is easy to reach from the A1 and the town has all you need for stocking up a holiday cottage, or for lunch or evening meal. Would recommend a visit to Burghley House and Park if you are staying locally, and, of course, Rutland Water!

In our opinion Stamford can satisfy almost anyone with the shopping experience plus many beautiful eating places coupled with some fantastic old buildings and architecture in other areas seldom seen in small towns.

Beautiful place - the old architecture is lovely to see , and it is great to see the town hasn't lost it's unique character. It was a pleasure to walk around seeing all the old buildings, and the people I met in the shops made me feel welcome. Being on my own there in the evening I felt safe - long may that continue.

    Stamford is very picturesque.

Stamford is very picturesque. The Cotswolds without the crowds. The people are very friendly and helpful if needed. Must pay a visit to the Tobie Norris pub, a step back in time, full of character. Full of historical buildings and churches

Beautifully styled, clean & spacious. A small outdoor space with a couple of benches. Powerful shower. 5 min walk into the centre of Stamford. Parking (paid) a few mins walk away. We were able to quickly park outside, dump bags & then put the car in the car park. Hosts helpfully provided electric charging info before our stay. Thoughtful to provide a pint of milk for our arrival. Kitchen was very well equipped although we didn’t use it apart from the kettle!

We spent a week in this beautiful town house in Stamford. The house was spotlessly clean throughout and had all mod cons including under floor heating in the downstairs lounge, It was very warm & cosy. It's situated next to the Burghley estate, which was great for dog walks. It's also just a short walk in to the town centre and the train station is just a few minutes away which was great for exploring the area. We will be delighted to return again.

Lovely little studio flat. Really well located for exploring Stamford, minutes from the High Street with lots of pubs, cafes and shops. Looked to be a fully stocked kitchen and had everything we needed for our stay.
