The facilities were excellent, and I particularly enjoyed the sauna with red lights—it was the perfect way to relax after a long day of hiking. The location was amazing, with a stunning cliff and several caves just across the road. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring the right gear this time, so I could only explore two caves, but it’s definitely a reason to come back! The small waterfall and creek right outside the house were lovely touches, and during a morning walk, I even came across a hidden pond in the woods nearby. The outdoor BBQ area was another highlight—this place has everything for a perfect getaway. I’m already looking forward to returning in the summer to enjoy cave exploring, hiking, swimming, the sauna, and a BBQ under the stars.

1. The room was larger than I had expected. (I booked a single room). Although the room faced the street, I had no problems sleeping even with the window open. 2. A good breakfast menu offering a choice of dishes, using high quality ingredients. 3. A beer garden - the possibility to sit outside.

This was a hotel with the best staff I have ever experienced. Very attentive, polite, helpful and courteous. The rooms were beautiful and very cosy, the beds were comfortable, Wi-Fi worked well. It was wonderfully quiet at night. Dinner and breakfast in the adjoining restaurant were excellent. There were plenty of parking spaces nearby. The lounges and bar were very inviting. I can highly recommend this hotel.

From the moment I booked the team at Merchants Yard went above and beyond to ensure I had the best possible stay. Nothing was a problem for them, organising flowers as we were celebrating our 25th Anniversary, booking a table for dinner, offering advice on things to do near by and much much more. On check in the team were brilliant, friendly welcome and a complimentary drink (thank you). Throughout our stay the team were amazing, always happy and made sure we had everything we needed. I couldn't fault our trip - it was simply wonderful from start to finish. We had booked a king room which was amazing, so spacious, clean and modern. Topped off by a beautiful mountain view. The surrounding area had lovely walks with scenery for miles! The Blind Bull staff were all so friendly and welcoming, taking a genuine interest in your stay. There were so many small touches which made the stay feel extra special! The food was exceptional - everything tasted so good so I would definitely recommend booking an evening dinner in the restaurant.

    The apartment complex was excellent.

    The apartment complex was excellent. From the heated lockers in the boot room to save walking your muddy boots through the hall ways to the dog washing facilities which were used daily. The apartment was fully stocked with all the equipment needed for our short stay. The outdoor facilities were also excellent, parking was easy the bin area very accessible and under cover, and there was also bbq area under cover if required. Over all excellent all round.

    Beautiful accommodation and surroundings

    Beautiful accommodation and surroundings , great hosts, very helpful and responsive to messages. The accommodation was finished to a great standard, modern, classy and clean. (Sofa bed not so great but I haven't found one yet that is). We like to cook when we go away , we also like to prepare food for hiking so this place aas perfect. We did see lots of local pubs and chips shops which is great for those wanting this. Also had EV charging...made it a great choice for us.

    Really nice apartment. It had everything you would need.

    Really nice apartment. It had everything you would need. Car park big - easy to get a space. Good location. Nice and warm. Big comfortable bed. Sofa bed in living room should you need it. The host had it set up for us as requested. Was in the area for the ultra challenge - just wish we had booked a second night there!

    Fantastic accommodation, immaculate, great quality, so comfortable, everything we needed, terrific free parking. It exceeded my expectations. The people who owned it contacted me by phone when I raised a query. We could not have asked for better service. We thought at that price it was too good to be true but it wasn't. It really was that good

    if you are going alone and are under 5'5" don't bother going...

    if you are going alone and are under 5'5" don't bother going as you won't be able to reach the cupboards with glasses and crockery. I came home after the first night and I had paid for 3 nights.

    Loved the modern clean lines of the furnishings. Coffee, tea, sugar and milk sachets were in the kitchen together with 2 small bottles of water which we appreciated. Washing up liquid, sponge, dishcloth and hand wash soap also provided. The bathroom had a great shower with body wash, shampoo and liquid soap also provided. Large car park and outside facilities were good. This has been our second visit and we plan to come again. The walks in the area were great together with nice shops in Bakewell and Matlock.
