This is a fantastic location.
This is a fantastic location. Pub a bit hit and miss but also lovely despite this. Beautiful walks and scenery. You do pay for the location though. Beautiful National Trust site itself is worth every penny. The NT staff were fabulous and very helpful and they managed everything very well. Some of the franchises based around the courtyard were (as sadly is usual now) quite expensive. This is a beautiful old Inn with 5 ensuite rooms.
This is a beautiful old Inn with 5 ensuite rooms. We were in room 5, which was so quiet. The rooms have creaky floor boards in places which we loved (it is after all a grade II listed building). Bed was very comfortable - firm but soft. The staff were amazing, very helpful, chatty and always had a smile. The food & service is excellent. Staying here you also have free entrance to walk the grounds of Stourhead, whenever you want. You can never tire of the walks round here.
