Tain is a lovely quiet place to stay in but i did not like the restaurant at the Station. Overpriced basic food which i would not go back for. Quiet area with several options for food and drink. Platform 1867 a fun restaurant with good food, friendly staff and lovely outside area. Plenty of shops and petrol stations. I used Tain as a base for a golf holiday in the Highlands.
I used Tain as a base for a golf holiday in the Highlands. Although I did not play Tain Golf Club which is basically next to the hotel, it was convenient for rounds at Brora, Golspie, Royal Dornoch and Fortrose & Rosemarkie, within about a 45 minute drive of all four. Tain itself is a nice village with good restaurants and shopping which I took advantage of when my clubs were not in use. Particularly enjoyed Greens Restaurant within a block of the hotel.Guest review byAnonymous

Parking was easy and my wife loved our room which was just across the hall from the breakfast room. We had a pleasant walk into Tain and had dinner in the Station Restaurant which was bustling and the service & food were excellent. Again, my wife thought the bed so comfortable and she enquired as to its make during breakfast. Looks like I am spending more money! I like to take frequent breaks from the Isle of Skye several times a year in order to write and walk on the sunnier side and this was, by far, the best hotel in which I’ve stayed.
