After a year in East Anglia the hills came as a bit of a shock. After day 3 we didn’t notice the ups and downs and enjoyed our daily walks. Rockfish? Served a brilliant meal and particularly enjoyed reminiscing over the charts of Trincomalee. Colombo and South Africa which are displayed on the inside wall.

We enjoyed the Marina area and dining at the superb Bistro Pierre. Unfortunately, poor weather restricted our movements. A real bonus was the excellent Torquay taxi service, reasonably priced and reliable.

The shopping is extensive, as can be expected from a Holiday resort area, with local shops as well as main brand chains. The Wetherspoons pub in the town entre served well prepared meals and a great range of beers. Once you are in the bay area it is all flat and easy walking, but some of the slopes out of the town are a little heavy going. I tried the coastal path and have to say you do need to be fairly fit to get through some parts of it. It is however, easy to get around the area with plenty of bus services and the Taxi services, given it is a holiday location, are reasonably priced.

It was far hillier than I expected which curtailed some of the walking I did. I was disappointed in the choice of eating places - nearly all were fast food and it seemed that you had to go out of town to have a Sunday roast

Some great opportunities for swimming and kayaking with photography. Surprised to see seals at Thatcher Rock. My hotel - the Water's Edge on the sea front is walking distance from many restaurants on the sea front. Hiring kayaks easy from Abbey Sands.

Has a little of everything to suit all ages.

Has a little of everything to suit all ages. Crazy golf at the end of Belgrave Rd, with Cantina serving fabulous food, with lovely outside seating area. Fish and chip cafe serving small fish and chip which is ample for the smaller appetite and the fish in light crispy batter was gorgeous.

Owners are lovely people, very welcoming and detailed about the facilitates and location. The mattress itself was very good condition and comfy. The apartment was extremely clean. The location was peaceful and being in the apartment room itself was a lot quieter than a hotel room. The apartment isn’t too far from local attractions and things to do, such as a short-drive to Torquay and Paignton. It’s also in an excellent place (5 min walk) for peaceful and relaxing walks along the cliff with sea views, looking down at Oddicombe beach.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The room had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. It was a very quiet room. The hotel is in a great location, only a few minutes walk into the town. There is a bar with the drinks being more like pub prices than hotel prices. We ate out for breakfast, so we can't comment on that. We would definitely look to stay at the hotel again when we next have a trip to Torquay.

Having stayed here a number of times before we knew of its excellent value. It is one of the most inexpensive hotels in which to stay, but our price included delicious breakfasts and evening meals all to buffet style (which we prefer) offered by friendly, helpful staff. Unless you are looking for 5 star luxury, then we would thoroughly recommend the Trecarn for the best value in the Torquay area.

Amy was very friendly and explained everything about her Hotel. The room and public areas had obviously been recently redecorated to a very high standard. The Breakfast Room and the menu could be faulted. Will come back to The Rosewood if I need to be in Torquay again.
