Workington was better than expected Plenty of shops and parking Flowers were blooming and very colourful on a lot of the streets It was a good place for us to stay as a base, we travelled around the coast line up to Gretna where a wedding was going on. We went around the Lake district and found St Bees a lovely place to watch surfers , swimming and peddle boarding and lots of children enjoying the pools after the sea had gone out I am of the older generation so like to people watch very relaxingGuest review byjanetUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It's one of the start points for the C2C cycle or walk routes - the others are at Whitehaven or St Bees. Both those are much nicer than Workington. I ate in the Henry Bessemer - a Wetherspoon's pub, which was good value WYSIWYG.
