I was last on the island in 1997 and although it is much more commercial now, it is still charming. There are no cars, you walk or take a small boat to get between the towns. Charming restaurants and rock beaches - there is good food and drink to be found at reasonable prices. We had a stop over in Hydra for a few days and enjoyed it. Recommend a harbour view, it is pricey, but so are other apartments. We did not venture from the Hydra town, nor did we go swimming; however, if you do, a longer stay would be beneficial.Guest review byAnneLuxembourg - 8.0

The entry is a bit odd as it’s next to a pet shop but once upstairs you have a fantastic apartment that is close to Port and easy to get to with bags. I loved the views to the clock tower from balcony, views to the square and hills from living-room and hearing the town wake up each morning. Very neat and clean. Hydra is fabulous. It's quite stylish. There is a wonderful array of bars, cafes and restaurants with delicious food, which was surprisingly good value. We've been going to Hydra for over 15 years, and love the ease of the island, especially no vehicles. Though the beaches aren't your classic white sandy beaches the sea is beautiful and the people are really hospitable. When we arrived, we dsicovered that my husband had left our passports at our previous hotel in Spetses. Evi on the reception desk arranged to have them delivered by ferry to us and we got them that same afternoon. The apartment is beautiful with an incredible little garden and outdoor shower.
