We loved staying in Oia, mid October had perfect weather! The crowds were not too bad expect for when the cruise ships came in, we avoided the town from 10am to around 1:00pm, evenings during the sunsets it gets crowded but it worth it to watch the sun go down, the sky lights up and is so beautiful, you can't miss it. Schedule a catamaran or private boat cruise, we highly recommend getting on the water to see it from the sea. Great shops and restaurants, you have to have the gelato at Lolita's, it's the best I've ever had!Guest review byNoraUnited States - 10

Everything in Oia is great - it’s so beautiful that not even the crowds are a problem! There are so many wonderful cafes and restaurants that you’re spoilt for choice. Crowded with cruise ship visitors but only during mid-point of day. Once we figured out layout, easy to get around. Lots of stairs, so be prepared. All was welcoming. Especially all the tours and guides. Wine-tasting and catamaran tours great. E-bike was a bit more difficult than I anticipated - but probably more about my fitness level - not the tour. Oia is stunning, especially at sunset, but in September it felt overrun with cruise ship crowds and influencers. We loved our simple apartment with its incredible views, starry nights, and the local cats and donkeys. Food and wine are excellent but expensive, and swimming isn’t easy without hiring a car or scooter. Very thoughtful of them. The location is great with a direct view of the famous Santorini sunset.
