So much to see and do, impossible to appreciate it in 10 visits. The real problem is its popularity. At high season it's a sea of faces which makes it difficult to appreciate the sights. But we contributed to that a bit so I should not complain. If you can find your way to Socratous Garden for a beer of a meal then do so. An oasis of calm in a manic place. The Old Town was very crowded and every restaurant owner was trying to lure you in. We had some lovely meals, best pizza was at Pan & Vino outside the Old Town Walls. Best trip was the Dolce Vita booze cruise down the East Coast. The boat trip to Symi was too long and the harbour was very crowded when we arrived full of rental scooters and cars. Rhodes town was beautiful. Architecture, history, shops. Found many of the restaurants don't have a price list and charge up to 3x more for food and drinks... be wary!!! Rhodes Town was fine and the historical section was very interesting. Rhodes Town is also a great location for taking day trips. I went to the Lindos Acropolis with a tour group and had a wonderful experience. Another good tour is Kamiros, Embona, Mt. Profitis Ilias and Kallithea. Getting out of Rhodes Town helps one appreciate just how beautiful the island truly is. Had lunch at Mama Sofia's in Old Town. The old town of Rhodes is stunning.
The old town of Rhodes is stunning. It is an authentic old town full of stone buildings and little alleyways. Although there are many tourist shops they have not destroyed the integrity of the place by modernising. The Grand Masters Palace is impressive and a visit there is certainly worthwhile. The Roman floor mosaics are beautiful. The history museum within the palace was very good. We loved walking on the city wall from where you can see across the city and port. The archeological museum, in the hospital, was excellent. There are so many cafes and restaurants throughout the town. We ate at Yiannis which was family run, with great food at reasonable prices. There are many car rental places for a day out of the city. We got a cheap and excellent car at Butterfly Rentals, then drove to visit the Lindos Acropolis and the 6thC BC Kameiros ruins.Guest review byJanAustralia

We were really pleased with the level of service from reception staff, as when we were checking in the hotel was experiencing a blackout from loss of power due to the fires. This was only for a short period of time. We loved the room we had, it was clean and had all the amenities you would need. The location is perfect for the port for ferries as only a 5 minute walk away. Arranged transport with them direct and they were waiting for us when we docked. The guy who picked us up is also the chef and we ate at the hotel on the night we stayed. I can honestly say the food was amazing. Oven baked feta and the meatballs were the best we have had. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast is served in the small walled courtyard, a really good choice of food and drinks.
