A perfect place to dive and learn diving Tulamben is a peaceful little town and an amazing spot for both scuba diving and freediving. The water is calm, visibility is great, and marine life is rich, from colourful coral to bumphead parrotfish. The famous USAT Liberty wreck is a must-see, accessible right from shore. It’s also a great place to learn diving – many friendly, professional instructors and dive centres around. Whether you're a beginner or ean xperienced diver, you'll love it here. A must see dive spot to explore. Or even for amateur snorkellers. Beautiful submarine wreck so close to the shore and amazing and colourful sea creatures to witness. Tulamben is famous for the sunken wreck, Liberty. Most tourists visit Tulamben has the main purpose of scuba diving (not sunbathing). This diving spot is very good for open water divers with little experience. It has very little of current due to the bay shielding from fast-moving water. Tulamben is a great, quiet place to stay if you like diving.
Tulamben is a great, quiet place to stay if you like diving. There are a number of diving operators based there. There are a range of restaurants assocated with the diving hotels, and also tasty local Warungs available for the more adventurous. I recommend a 3 night stay to enjoy the diving opportunities here. Tulamben is nestled between the rocky beach and the mountains and is very beautiful.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0
Go there to dive the Liberty wreck only.
Go there to dive the Liberty wreck only. The "coral gardens" supposedly off the resort are quite poor, Jemeluk is better. The food at the resort was excellent, but I was so annoyed at being given the wrong villa that I didn't eat there after the first night. This issue with the ocean view villas has happened to others as well- make sure you are given what you have paid for.Guest review byGailAustralia

Beautiful views over the ocean (it’s black volcanic sand and pebbly beach but still gorgeous). We read books, recharged. Ate well including Indonesian and Western food, drank margaritas and had Magnum ice creams for a treat. The staff are all beautiful . What’s not to love about all that? Rooms are spacious, mattresses are comfortable. Wonderful pool, easy descent to the sea, snorkeling opportunities with pretty fish. Diving is probably not bad but we didn't try it. Yoga in the morning and during the day, not a bad SPA. Friendly staff. The Manager meets every guest and it's nice. I was alone all day so I have a private driver. He picked me up from Tulamben and took care of all of my needs. He also made pictures of me. So he was a driver, tourguide and photographer.
