The riverfront shops, multiple cuisines worth of restaurants, and other sights are well worth a wander through. I enjoyed the preserved bits of industrial history, as well as how that intersects with the Yeats trail. With the exception of the abbey, the town of Sligo isn't a particularly strong attraction. The surrounding countryside is another matter. Downpatrick Head, the town and beach of Mullaghmore, Keash Caves, Queen Maeve's Cairn, Union Rock, walks along the shores of Lough Gill, are all easily accessible by car from a base in the town and well worth a visit.Guest review byJohnCanada - 10

The room we got was nice, clean and spacious, overlooking the river with good quality windows (we couldn;t hear any noise from the street nor the sound of the very rapid river flowing along the hotel elevation). Next door to the train and right on the edge of town, they gave us a refurbished room on the 3rd floor but it was right next door to the lift which woke us up very time somebody came up or down in the lift. As soon as l complained they moved us next door and we couldn’t hear the lift. The staff were very helpful and couldn’t do enough.
