This hotel truly exceeded all our expectations, making our trip truly remarkable. First and foremost, cleanliness is paramount when it comes to choosing accommodation. The room was immaculate, and every detail was taken care of with the utmost precision. The attention to cleanliness made us feel comfortable and at ease throughout our stay. The room service was not only prompt but also exceptionally helpful. Whether it was an extra bottle of water or a drying rack, they were always at my beck and call, ensuring that our needs were met promptly and with a smile. Their dedication to guest satisfaction was truly commendable. One of the standout features of this hotel was the gym and fitness facilities. The gym trainer on staff Prem was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly motivating. He tailored a workout plan to suit my needs, and his guidance helped me maintain my fitness routine during my stay. It's rare to find such a dedicated fitness professional at a hotel, and it greatly enhanced my experience. But what truly set the Taj Wellington Mews apart was the exceptional level of service provided by the staff.     Food is Good.

    Food is Good. But Auto and Taxi ( Uber, Ola, Rapid ) felt not supporting outsiders from TN and ready if paid extra ( atleast 25% ) more once they found the traveller was from outside TN. Local Transportation is not trustworthy. So much traffic congestion due to road developments.

    It's a big city that isn't very easy to get around due to traffic and unclear public buses. Marina Beach is very popular but a nice place to go and try some different foods. There are not a whole lot of attractions or things to do in the city. Biryani and Idli are the common dishes and whilst they were ok, I didn't want to eat a lot of it and it was a struggled to find restuarants serving other options.

    Chennai is a very poor, under-invested, smelly, noisy city. Many would say a shit-hole and given the small of most places you’d have to agree. Added to the humans pissing and crapping literally everywhere are tge ‘sacred’ cows that also shot and piss rivers everywhere. The pavements are ridiculously uneven — it’s actually safer to walk on the road! Just awful.

    City has different vibe than its peer cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad. I liked the old Chola style temples. Plus the airport is within City are unlike some other metros where airport is 30-40 km outside the city. And it's connected by metro line. Although due to major metro work under progress is making cabs taking lot of time to arrive for pickup and to cover short distance like 5-6 km in 30-40 mins.

    Beaches were beautiful near Thiruvanmiyur, Besant Nagar, Olive beach, Marina, Akkarai beach. Traffic and Humidity in city are unbearable. Local Trains MSB to VLCY , and Metro Trains were comfortable. Malls and Cinemas in ECR and OMR were fabulous! It rained a bit when I visited in August-September 2025, so it was pleasant. Be careful with the mass street dogs in the city especially nearby beaches. with a good number of public dogs wont attack but if you are alone or less in number and if they sense threat , the dogs might charge on you.

    One of the staff feels he owns the place.

    One of the staff feels he owns the place. Very uncooperative. Attitude is take it or leave it. Out of 2 rooms one room was full of cockroaches. Unclean sheets. Alternative room did not have proper locking system. I had booked 2 rooms for 5 nights and he wanted us to make full payment. So that we are stuck with the place. Normally hotels or lodges does not insist on payment nor ids if you arrive very late and they agree to complete formalities in the morning.

    The ambience, water based Rajasthani leisure stay which included the longest pool with water fall and private clean seafront with perfect landscaped lush garden was awesome . Rahul at the reception was completely with us in getting the right room of choice , our anniversary celebration and mellowed us down from the hectic city life ! The housekeeping was perfect , food tasty and the evening complimentary high tea with Rajasthani folklore was the best .. Kaldan is the in thing on ECR... Be there !

    This hotel is just beside MA chidambaram cricket stadium in Chepauk. About 8-9 mins walking distance to Marina beach Chennai. Hence location was great. There were many food restaurants available nearby. There are many Bengali food joints available for those looking for cheaper north east indian food options. Hotel staff were Bengali and very helpful in answering queries or resolving any potential problems. Room was reasonably small but clean. AC, TV everything was working.

    I needed to be near central station, Fort St George and CSK stadium. The hotel was great for all three. Used the metro at Chennai Park Town to get to anywhere I needed to go. Marina Beach, Santom Basilica and Leela Palace Hotel. I’m a no frills traveller and this is a no frills hotel. A perfect match. More activity out on the street in one minute than in a day in most European cities!
