We had a lovely stay at Hotel Minerva in Otranto. Even though it was winter, the room was very warm. We had asked for a ground floor and Hotel Minerva accommodated our request. The room was very large and the bed very comfortable. The room and bathroom were extremely clean. The breakfast was fabulous with an array of sweet and savory dishes. Our host was very pleasant and very helpful with parking our car and our two miniature schnauzers were very welcome. Otranto is very interesting with a castle and a magnificent cathedral and this hotel is within a five minute walk to centro storico. We would highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in Otranto.

We loved that it was a small family owned hotel, and the owners were there at all times. Really made you feel welcome. Very attentive even carried in our luggage and when we left that was much appreciated. We had a good conversation with the owners, so that helps make it a memorable experience . Our hand shower broke, and it was fixed within 15 min. We found this because we left another place three days early because of no customer service our heat and internet was broken and we had to sleep in our clothes because it was so cold and owner could care less. So this hotel was a gem to find.

    This is our second time to beautiful Otranto.

    This is our second time to beautiful Otranto. It's a gorgeous town, one of our very favorites in Italy. It has a leisurely calm that we find appealing, not to say that there isn't also a nightlife. Our favorite restaurant is Balconcino d"Oriente-exceptional food and great people there. Many like the beaches; we love strolling and enjoying the view and atmosphere of this beautiful and historically-rich town.

    Lovely. Beautiful beaches and great swimming spots. Beautiful old town with loads of restaurant options. Great base to explore the area from. Highly recommended. Definitely worth having a car though to get out to the beaches nearby such as Laghi Alimini. Lots of little beaches and rocky swimming spots nearby along the coast.

    Otranto city itself is not special for us and we had two BAD...

    Otranto city itself is not special for us and we had two BAD dinners there - imagine bad pizza in Italy! We much preferred the coastline and beaches in the surrounding area. Would not return to Otranto, will try Santa Maria di Leuca next time and do the coastal path and visit the western beaches.

    Otranto has a charming, beautiful Altstadt.

    Otranto has a charming, beautiful Altstadt. It has a wonderfully tiled big square along the harbor with lots of restaurants. The town's white washed houses are delightful. It has a nice cathedral with a huge, beautifully restord mosaic along the floor of the cathedral. Visiting the historic castello is advisable. Walking the small pretty streets with its shops, cafes is very pleasant.

    So much to see and do, lovely, friendly atmosphere, with a beautiful port and castle and lots of wonderful restaurants to choose from! The nearby beaches were clean and not too crowded in July with the most beautiful sea for swimming. We can't recommend Otranto highly enough!

    Excellent choice of restaurants both inland and on the promenade. Lots of shops selling local produce and souvenirs. Although the closest beach gets crowded there are other spots to swim off and other much larger beaches just up the coast . If you have a car. The castle is impressive and adds character to Otranto. Great base for exploring the southern tip of Italy with easy access to the main highways. If going to Santa Maria de Luca make sure one of the routes you take is the coastal route as extremely pretty.

    The front of house was excellent!! Romina and Paola were two of the best operators I have come across in all my 60 odd years of travel. Helpful, efficient warm and so personable!! They were that good they deserve a pay rise!! The Maritime museum was excellent and compliments to the owner for personalising the hotel so meticulously!! A most enjoyable stay!

Location was good to get around the area (it is near the road, but that wasn't an issue, no noise to be concerned about). List of hotel recommendations in nearby town (very good) and Otranto.
