Very quite lifestyle and enjoyable stay. He has 3 dogs but they are very cute and friendly. The room we had was very well kept and clean. He gave went in the morning while we were gone to clean up the room and tidy up. We came back there were fresh towels and tided down bed. The pool is extremely clean and the lights are on at night so it looks very beautiful. Over all, very satisfying stay and definitely top choice for visiting Siracusa for Americans.

FAQs about hotels in Syracuse

The Very Best of Greece and Rome

A goldmine of Greek and Roman heritage, Siracusa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with the Necropolis of Pantalica in hills to the north-west.

Siracusa itself has a necropolis within the amazing Neapolis archaeological park, which also houses Roman amphitheatre and altar remains, as well as one of the largest Greek theatres ever built. Legend has it that the site includes the tomb of Archimedes, who was born here.

The ancient Greeks founded the city (also known as Syracuse) and Cicero even considered it the greatest of all. Columns from that period were used to build the Baroque cathedral, and the Fountain of Arethusa dates to the same era. Both are within Ortygia, a walled peninsula jutting into the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Also here are ruins of the Roman temple of Apollo, and at the tip of the peninsula is the 13th-century Maniace Castle.

The fabulous Siracusa Archaeological Museum houses relics from all these periods, and is located by the Catacombs of Saint John. Opposite them both is the modern conical spire of the Madonna delle Lacrime Sanctuary church.

Aside from all this history, Siracusa also has plenty of pavement cafes and restaurants, and lovely sandy beaches overlooked by luxury hotels, cheap B&Bs and holiday homes available on Booking.com.

What Guests Said About Syracuse:

Siracusa is an interesting and varied city.

Siracusa is an interesting and varied city. Historically and culturally there are lots to see and explore particularly in the old town area of Ortigia but also at the archaeological park. If you like eating out the variety and quality of restaurants is exceptional and if you like seafood you will not be disappointed! The prices were also very reasonable and you can eat lunch in the street food area of Ortigia ridiculously cheaply but with restaurant quality. A holiday location for adults though or maybe families with older, late teens maybe or older, children as there are really no beaches worth speaking of where younger children could play or swim safely. Go so.ewhere else in Sicily if that's your priority.

A very interesting city beautifully located on the coast. A wonderful place for people interested in ancient history - it was full of antiquities. Ortigia (walking distance from Siracusa) is very pretty and interesting. Lots of palaces and churches everywhere. A foodie's paradise. The people were very nice. Good swimming - warm, clean sea even in October.

Loved the island of Ortigia, from where you can visit the key attractions of Syracuse. We enjoyed our visit to the Neapolis archeological park with its spectacular ancient Greek theatre, the Roman amphitheatre and ancient stone quarries, with its the ear of Dionysus and impressive acoustics. The park's display of bronze and metal sculptures are an added bonus. A rainy afternoon was spent in the archeological museum. On Ortigia, we liked our visit to the castle, strolling the streets and choosing where to eat from the many fine restaurants. We were there 4 days, which was just about right.

The archeological ruins, catacombs in Siracusa and the Jewish baths in Ortigia are all worth visiting. We spent a couple of days doing the above and the other sights and it felt about the right length of time. Agape is a great restaurant to eat at and Oleum has some of the best Pizza in Sicily.

This property has THE BEST food we have eaten whilst in Sicily!! It’s an absolute 10/10. The staff are AMAZING!! We stayed for 3 nights, it felt like we stayed for a week. Staff make you feel like you’re part of the family. The breakfast buffet is sensational. So much variety, it’s hard to choose what to have each day. This is a must if you’re looking at accomodation in Syracuse. Owner, Giusi is an absolute delight to deal with. Thanks for having us, we will come back!!

We had a lovely stay in this B&B. The hosts Sandra & Piero are people with a heart of gold that have one goal: make you feel comfortable and give you an unforgetable stay in Siracusa. The room was great, the view amazing and the breakfast fantastic! On top of that, the B&B is very well located at a 5 min walk to the historic city center of Ortigia. Definitely a place we will recommend to anybody going to Sicily & Siracusa!

We thought it was very clean. Nice to receive a couple of coffees for the machine and a couple of brioche. Seemed very secure apartment and had a narrow side but cute view of ortigia island. Good check in system with a whatsapp video of how to get in! Especially as it was dark when we arrived. The apartment block is clean inside in the general area of the building...a massive bonus in Sicily!

Really liked all the little touches left by the hostess Rosario, like beach towels, summer hats and breakfast including milk and a bottle of wine in the fridge. A nice courtyard setting. The location was a 15 minute walk from the island of Ortigia. There’s so much to do in that area by foot or by bus if you don’t have a car. A great location as a base to explore the Southeast of Sicily.
