FAQs about hotels in Turin

Shrouded in Sophistication

Italy’s first capital, sophisticated Turin has many elegant buildings and porticoed streets. Large Piazza Castello is the focal point and centres on Palazzo Madama, an unusual structure with a Renaissance façade and medieval body.

The next door Royal Palace backs onto Turin Cathedral, home to the Turin Shroud, the cloth with an imprint of Christ only rarely on display. Its museum is just one of the many fantastic Turin museums. None is better than the Egyptian Museum, the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts outside Cairo. Also noteworthy is the Mole Antonelliana, housing displays on Italian cinema and supposedly the world’s tallest museum.

By the Po, Italy’s longest river, is the Parco del Valentino, a tranquil park that is home to the Borgo Medievale, an artificial, medieval-style settlement with a castle.

However, within Italy, Turin is best known for sport and cars. FIAT is based here and nostalgia lovers can visit the rooftop track on top of their old Lingotto factory, now a conference center. The city’s 2 Serie A football clubs - Torino and Juventus - also have electric atmospheres at their games.

Watch out for amazing views of the Alps as you fly into Turin Airport. Public transport then quickly links you to your Booking.com hotel, B&B or hostel.

Turin is a fantastic city, it steals your heart!

Turin is a fantastic city, it steals your heart! People from Turin are kind and funny, and the vibe is great, with lots of young people to meet. The food is amazing, along with the wine. There are many areas to pick for your lunches, aperitifs and dinners out. To me, a week is not enough to explore everything, as there’s so much to see both in the city and its surroundings. The history and beauty of Turin will leave you speechless. Turin is easy to discover by public transport.

Lovely Italian city.

Lovely Italian city. Amazing local food and wine and lots of museums to explore. I would recommend the cinema Musuem and the Egyptian Musuem. Also very easy to travel around using buses, metro or trains. We didn't need catch a single taxi.

This city is a hidden gem in Italy. Having been to most other major cities on the leg and its Islands, this was our first time to Torino. We loved the culture, the food and the wine region speaks for itself! The city is full of grand architecture and incredible piazza's. Highly recommended!

Turin has lots going for it - beautiful boulevards, piazzas, some fantastic museums and great food and wine. Unfortunately our experience was heavily influenced by the pollution which meant that we couldn’t see any views of the city from any of the viewing points (eg the Mole and the basilica). The city was also covered everywhere with graffiti which ruined many buildings and made it feel a very neglected and run down city.

Turin is a city that has everything we need: history, food, tours, more polite people than other cities, very cheap prices, easy train, bus, this was the best place I stayed, I was in all of Italy, and the easiest to get around, without bureaucracy, and cheaper prices than others.

Turin is not as touristy as other Italian cities I’ve visited and that made it really great. It has the lovely plazas and churches and also has this amazing view of the Alps. We visited the duomo, climbed the tower, shopped at the Saturday market, went to the Egyptian museum and walked along the Po River. We also made a half day trip to Reggia di Venaria which is gorgeous. We got around easily on buses or by foot. The city is not huge and the side trips are all well connected by public transport. I could have stayed longer and explored each square more and taken more day trips to nearby sites like the Superga, the Fenis, and even Mont Blanc! The cuisine here is heavy and not for everyone but we enjoyed trying new things (veal with tuna, savory flan, etc) and of course you have to get Barrolos and Barbereacas everywhere but also martinis and other vermouth cocktails.
