Llama is a typical Japanese town. Great for a walk, but one day is plenty! Madarao ski resort scenery, location is wonderful. Madarao is a small village about 25 minutes away by bus from Iiyama. It is very accessible from Tokyo by Shinkansen. Dinner has to be booked in advance since there are not too many choices. The whole place was super clean. As breakfast and dinner were included in the price, they accommodated our special dietary needs without blinking an eye. We asked for an extra room when we arrived for our stay and they provided one at a very reasonable rate. When we were stranded at Nozowa Onsen(nearby town) one night, they came to pick us up. We could park very close to the hotel, room was warm and spacious. Although hotel is a little on the old side we did not mind. There was an Onsen downstairs and some vending machines. Nice curry house just in front of the hotel. The outdoor onsen was breathtaking when it snowed and every thing you needed was right there.
