We recently had the pleasure of extending our stay in Kyoto and decided to move to Kabin Taka after a wonderful experience at Kabin Koji, their sister property. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the seamless transition and the exceptional hospitality at both hotels. The staff was incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. One of the standout features of our stay was how spacious the rooms were, especially compared to the typical hotel rooms in Japan. There was actually enough room to fully open our suitcases, which made packing and unpacking so much easier and more comfortable. The room was beautifully appointed with modern amenities and offered a relaxing ambiance that made it feel like a true home away from home. Another thoughtful touch that stood out was the option to stow our luggage in secure area after check-out, complete with locks. This made it so much easier for us to explore Kyoto without having to worry about our bags. The location was ideal, with easy access to local attractions, and we especially appreciated the attention to detail throughout the hotel. Overall, our stay was nothing short of amazing. We are already looking forward to booking again on our next trip to Kyoto! Highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable and comfortable stay in the city.

Great location with relatively close walking distances to most places. Rooms are very spacious and spotlessly clean with good amenities. The staff are awesome, friendly and very helpful. There are some great little cafe's close by serving Australian style coffees and lots of restaurants to satisfy every diet. The Hotel also has a cafe serving breakfast and afternoon/evening snacks and drinks as well. From the outside it doesn't look like much but inside this place is one of the better boutique hotels for sure. I highly recommend this hotel.

Kyoto is beautiful.

Kyoto is beautiful. We went to Fushi Inari at 6 am so we did not have crowds, We went to NARA where 1,600 deer roam free and bow if you feed them. We saw the biggest Buddha in Nara, very interesting! We went to a tea ceremony which was delightful. We ended our visit with a walking tour in Gion and the highlight of our trip....meeting a geisha as she performed some dances. She was beautiful and we had fun playing a fan game with her. Kyoto will always remain in my heart> Very easy to get around the city. GOOOOOOOO you will love it!!!!!

Kyoto feels like a proud city and rightfully so...it has historic sights to see , beautiful old districts to visit , fabulous restaurants and a vibrant local business scene. At time though it is overwhelmed by tourists and being one of them, I felt sympathy for the locals. My visit felt like I had become the unwhitting member of a cruise ship drop off. Probably wont ever go back and felt the locals won't miss me either

We've been considering whether to visit Kyoto or not during our Japan holidays. It turned out to be a right decision, as we liked the vibe of the city, very different from Tokyo. I liked the cuisine, lots of excellent restaurants, street food and the fact our hotel was so close to the city center we did not have to take public transport that often. However, what I did not like that much was, that when we had to take the public transport, it was less connected and the connections less clear that in Tokyo. Also, the numerous souvenir shops were more touristy, with less nice things. And, the waiting lines to almost every shop (!) were driving me crazy. For example, waiting line to Onitusuka Tiger shop was constantly 60 minutes minimum, while in Shibuya Tokyo, I was out of the shop in 30 minutes with my new pair on.

We went to a performance at the Kabuki theatre. That was fascinating. Also went to UJI (30 mins by train) to a museum based entirely on the book THE TALE OF GINJI written 1000 years ago. It was a thrill to visit such a unique museum in a forest setting.

There was a mass of humanity during our October visit, and while the streets, shrines, and restaurants were very busy, everyone was polite. When we had walked and walked we would get a taxi for the next destination. That was better than spending our money at a Starbucks!

The property was conveniently located next to Omiya station, with quick access either by train or taxi to the popular Gion area. Hotel was exceptionally clean, staff were delightful, and the pyjamas were the best of our whole trip. Rooms were on the smaller side, but this is usual for Japan - they had everything you could possible need, including a kettle and many USB charges. The room rate was very good for Kyoto. I would recommend this hotel and would happily stay there again.

This is the best hotel that we've stayed at in Japan. It is more of a 4-5 star hotel. Beds were comfortable, staff were great, close by to the main attractions, shower was the best we've experienced in Japan, and they have a lounge with free drinks and snacks that is open till 10pm. Room size was also generous by Japan's standards. I highly recommend this hotel and will use it as a base next time.
