Mishima is a diamond 💎. It was one of the most beautiful places I visited in Japan. The gardens, clear water streams, beautiful people, wonderful parks with animal petting zoo make this area a magnificent visit. Being on the doorstep of Mt Fuji it’s easy to catch public transport up the mountain. If you are looking for a top notch Japanese kitchen knife to take home, visit 3 waves. They have a great range of knives, higher quality than specialist stores in Tokyo or Kyoto with prices much lower than everywhere else I looked in Japan. Most people head to the Sky Walk, but if you want to avoid the crowds and view some lovely scenery head to Yamanaka Castle Ruins. Mishima was a stopover for our travel between Kawaguchiko and Kyoto. We took a 80 min coach ride from Kawaguchiko to Mishima Station. It was convenient to get on the Shinkansen to Kyoto the next day. Room was very good, very stylish equipped and everything there you need. We had booked room with Fuji view, and can only recommend it. Of course you still need some luck of having no clouds, but we could see Fuji-san during both days, especially in morning and evening time.
