I thought we were getting a room when I booked (probably my fault for not realising!), but you actually get a whole period house for yourself! The owner asks you to let him know when you arrive so he can meet you to give you the keys and explain everything. He was really helpful and even explained to us where we could get dinner (it's a very small town!). The house itself was beautiful and warm. Futons were super comfortable. The bathroom is new and there is a wooden shower/bath room. We loved our stay so much!

What a gem! We had a wonderful stay at this incredibly beautiful old house. The inn served as the perfect overnight spot for hiking to Tsumago and Magome. Yakkun was an amazing host and told us about the history of the house and prepared hot pot and barbque for us alongside local wine and sake. Highly recommend!

Not only is the guest house absolutely beautiful, but the host was extremely helpful and hospitable which made this stay the best we had during our Japan trip. He drove us to Magome so that we managed to complete the Nakasendo trail just in time before the last bus departed. He also made a dinner reservation for us and drove us to an Onigiri restaurant for breakfast. We had a great stay!
