People are so friendly. The short walk from the station is pleasant. The bed is comfortable, we had very good sleep in the dorm. The common area is huge, there is a chimney(^^). The coffee shop serves quality coffee too.

The facility was lovely, peaceful, calm and very clean. The baths felt wonderful after a day of cycling. Although there was no restaurant onsite we were able to find food within a five minute walk for both dinner and breakfast.

Location, room and staff were perfect. Breakfast and cafe were lovely! The attention to detail and atmosphere was calming and classy. Staff carried out bags down 100 stairs when we left. So kind.

Everything, the room was excellent, bigger than expected. Love all the details and room quality. The amenities were fabulous. There are stairs to get to the rooms, at least for the two we were at. The owner left complimentary bread, delicious jam and bottled water. There was also information about the island, restaurants and points of interest that were very useful in the form of booklets (very well made with incredible pictures) and maps. We love staying here and would like to come back and stay longer to truly enjoy the island and the hotel. There is also space to safely store your bike if you are cycling the Shimanami Kaido. We can't say enough about this hotel

We had no issues at all with our stay. We stayed at Mange Tak because we were going to start cycling the Shimanami Kaido route from Onomichi. We were a group of 4 friends. The room looked quite new and was very clean and large. Everyone could lay out their luggage open and it was definitely not like the super small rooms you typically find in Japan. The staff helped us organise our luggage transfer and make a restaurant booking for us upon request. They do not have a dedicated space to store bicycles so two of us had to leave our bicycles locked outside - this was not an issue at all as Japan is super safe.

The town itself is nice but not too special. Plenty of good places to eat and many shops, but the main attraction is the startof the Shimanami Kaido bike route of course, it is gorgeous and highly recommended!

Onomichi is a picturesque and walkable city with lots of charm. You can stroll the vintage shotegai, visit the art museum, enjoy a snack at Onomichi U2, take a temple walk, ride the ropeway, and of course, biking the Shimanami Kaido. The people are friendly and the food and shopping are great.

Because I got in late from doing the big bike ride over from...

Because I got in late from doing the big bike ride over from Imabari, I was left with little time or energy to explore Onomichi. However, I did do some of the temple tour in the morning and it was excellent. I recommend taking the "ropeway" (I'd call it a cable car) to the hilltop and work your way down. I'd love to come back and explore more of this interesting little town.

If your visiting Onomichi for bike riding , it has everything you need . It’s also has great walks , shopping ,places to eat and the walk along the waterfront and boardwalk is wonderful. Enjoy a meal or a drink . Catch the ferry to the islands and explore on foot or bike.

Onomichi was a quiet town with lots of small alleys to explore. One full day should be enough to get a taste of the location for younger travelers. But two days at the town should also be good if you would like to take your time or if there are elderly in the group.

Such a beautiful little town with really friendly residents who genuinely welcome and enjoy travellers. Lots to do in the day, a bit quite at night though so don’t rely on there being restaurants open for dinner. I loved Onomichi. I only spent one day and one night there before beginning the Shimanami Kaido cycle, but I wish I’d stayed and relaxed a bit more is this wonderful town. The temple walk was worth the views, cat alley was unique and worth seeing, I loved just grabbing a coffee or pastry and sitting on the pier to enjoy the view.

Miharashi-tei Guesthouse was a pleasant surprise and a fantastic opportunity to appreciate a traditional Japanese house. The view of Onomichi is breathtaking and just looking out the main window is worth staying here. Even if it is an historic house we found the showers to be perfect for us, even better as they are located in a different building. The breakfast and the café were really good, breakfast included.

Conveniently located hotel within walking distance of the train station as well as main attractions such as Senko-ji temple. During the day, there rooms have fantastic views of the sea. Staff are friendly and helpful. Room is very clean, and other there are no baths, the shower is unusually spacious for Japan, making it very comfortable to use.

super cool part of the island. we broke up our bicycle trip from Onomichi to Imabari. the buildings are a mix of new and old ( the coffee roasting house is about 140 years old ) the restaurant has a fusion of western and japanese and was a pleasure left after breakfast feeling refreshed and strong for the second part of our ride

This is a great place to stay in Onomichi. We stayed in a private room and it really does not have a hostel vibe at all. The decor is really stylish and nice. The staff were lovely. We loved the Japanese breakfast.
