I had a wonderful stay at this small, friendly hotel with its beautiful location right on Lake Nojiri (one of my favourite places in the world). Ted and his staff helped me settle in and check out comfortably, and the room really exceeded my expectations - very spacious, with attractive mixed Japanese/western decor, a super-comfortable bed. I mainly just swim, but saw lots of other guests taking advantage of the area and equipment directly in front of the hotel to do other water sports. All quiet and peaceful, but conveniently on a low-key road that takes you wherever needed. There's a relaxed atmosphere in the downstairs dining/coffee/sitting room area as well.

The hotel provided a calm and peaceful atmosphere, ideal for relaxing after a long day. The room was exceptionally clean, spacious, and well-equipped with all the essentials. I especially appreciated the friendly and helpful staff, who made my stay comfortable and enjoyable. The location was convenient, surrounded by beautiful scenery, and easily accessible to nearby attractions.

This guesthouse was serene!! Located in a beautiful location, good driving distances to ski resorts. The place had a fantastic kitchen, superb sitting area, ski rack, bathrooms with onsen like tubs. Just stunning, would have loved to have stayed longer. Thank you so much for having us.

Staying at White Tree Lodge felt like visiting family Hayden and Saki are great hosts who do everything to help and make your stay enjoyable, room and lodge facilities comfortable, great location close to ski lifts and other restaurants in the village, and the home cooked Japanese food in the white tree restaurant was delicious with a great variety on menu. I have been skiing in Japan for 15 years and white tree is a definite standout and would highly recommended

    We had a lovely couple of days exploring Lake Nojiri and the surrounding mountains using Elan Hotel as our base. The hotel is newly renovated, very clean, the rooms were spacious and had incredible views over the lake, breakfast was delicious and Chris and Mark went out of their way to help us. We look forward to returning in Winter. Thanks for a great stay!

    Wonderful and friendly staff with good advice about the surrounding area. The hotel was very very clean with plenty of facilities for guests including access to a microwave and a refrigerator. The common facilities were beautifully maintained (public bath and toilets). The dinner menu was good especially the fish and chips.

    We were given full freedom to explore the lake by paddle/kayak and relax in the hotel without being kept an eye on. Good Wi-Fi and Ted was excellent at recommending which local sites we should visit
