I really enjoyed visiting the beautiful Ritsurin garden.

I really enjoyed visiting the beautiful Ritsurin garden. The station area doesn't have too much but if you're going to the city there's lots of cute shops and just a nice vibe from the people.

Takamatsu is a regional town on Shikoku Island in Japan.

Takamatsu is a regional town on Shikoku Island in Japan. It is quite relaxed and has everything that you may look for in big cities. Shikoku Island is one of the main 4 Islands of Japan. It is good to reach by train, bus and even by airplane. It has an old history and boasts of many traditional handicrafts, regional specialties (such as udon noodles), etc. Always worth a visit - even if it is in the rainy season.

Takamatsu was a great base from which to visit the area.

Takamatsu was a great base from which to visit the area. We based ourselves there and did daybtrips to places like Kotohira and Shadoshima. All the things you need in a town, small enough not to be overwhelming.

One highlight was tasking the ferry to Ogre Island and hiring elctric bikes. A wonderful day. We also enjoyed looking at the work being done at the shipyards, and enjoyed visiting the Shikoku village. Karaoke at a tradtional bar was also fun one evening, and we enjoyed a whole variety of Japanese food. One slight problem was that one of our group is vegetarian, so sometimes it took a while to find a restaurant that sukited us all.

Museum of Art and Ritsurin Garden were worth visiting. There's also a very cute art cafe, and a siphon coffee shop run by a cool old lady who doesn't speak a word of English. Nice covered shopping arcade, with a fabulous Mitsukoshi next to it.

Great place to unwind from the hustle and bustle of major cities in Japan, also a perfect jumping-off point for exploring islands in the Seto Inland Sea. It’s a bit sleepy and not tourist oriented, but that’s part of the charm. Plus, some of the best udon i’ve ever had.

The owner Tatsuya was very helpful and kind, he specially arranged for me and another guest to have separate rooms because another booking cancelled, so I had 3 days stay with an entire room to myself. He picked me up and dropped me off from the train station and was very communicative, making helpful suggestions for my stay and what decisions I could take to enjoy myself and Takamatsu. Highly recommend this guest house :) The space was large, quiet, and mostly air conditioned with a kitchen, and two living rooms. It even had massage chairs!

Location is pretty good. In a quiet resident area. Around 10 to 15 minutes walk to Takamatsu JR Station, tram station (高松築港 or 片原町station), ferry ports, Lawson, 7 Eleven, supermarket and the main shopping streets. The house is very clean and well-equipped.

It was typical old style ryokan, I don't mind for the facility. Very quiet and close to Water. Easy access from Takamatsu Train station or ferry terminal by local bus service.
