This hotel was fabulous on all levels: service, cleanliness, breakfast, room, onsen, etc. The staff took very good care of us. The hotel's private and public onsens were amazing! The hotel was not crowded; we would often be the only ones in the public onsens. The breakfast was outstanding. We were amazed at how much effort it took to prepare the food. The presentation and taste of the meal were outstanding! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Gero. You won't want to leave this property and the pampering of the staff!

The hotel service is excellent. They helped us transfer our luggage from the train station to the hotel around 10 AM before check-in, saving us the cost of a coin locker. The staff member who showed us to our room was very friendly and provided us with a detailed introduction. The 11 AM check-out time gave us more time to enjoy our stay. The WiFi is super fast, over 400 Mbps.

Gero has so much to share, with food, including Hida beef, yes get familiar with it. It's top level Wagyu beef and is from Hida the region that Gero is situated. The city is easy to get around in the snow (in Winter) and in the rain (in Spring), with places that are easy to walk or ride share to. Gero to most is a journey to get to with taking the trains, but it's well worth the journey, having seen cherry blossoms in the ever greens AND the snow falling like in a "snow globe", encrusting the tress, during the train ride. We are fortunate to have experienced Gero twice and now looking for a third stay, in Autumn for the changing of the leaves!

Gero is a gorgeous town in the valley in Gifu. There is a much slower pace here, incredibly friendly people. and beautiful nature. There's many nooks and crannies where you'll find interesting things, and the Gassho-mura open-air museum village is a must-see area.

I did a one day trip, I went there just because of the naturals onsen, and it was the best decision, I arrived about 10:00 at leave at the same time of the next day. Honestly I don't think is a trip for more than 3 days. Gero is a beautiful city, it has a few museums that can be seen in one period of the day. As the city is small, it doesn't need car or bus to go around if no one has fiscal disabilities. This was my second time at Japan, and I regret not going to Gero the first time as well.

If you want to stay in Gero Onsen on a budget, Gerobal Hostel is perfect. It's very close to the station, and although the rooms are very simple, they are clean and the bedrooms were well heated in winter. There are a number of public baths in Gero Onsen, so you can enjoy the hot springs for really very little money by staying here. I was able to leave my luggage after checking out, very welcoming and accommodating staff. Only has communal showers and toilets which were kept very clean.

Beautiful place with a kind host, but since I didn’t know it wasn’t directly in Gero, having to take another tram made the journey less convenient. The distance from Gero was inconvenient, and we ended up not having any onsen experience, which was what we were really looking forward to..
