A majestic and stately property hidden away from tourist crowds in Keggale. The rooms are spacious and decorated with beautiful artefacts. Nothing is lacking as a facility inside the room. A pleasant fragrance from the incense burner welcomes you in the luxurious room. A very relaxing atmosphere. Check in and check out was super smooth. Special mention to Brian, the gentleman who manages the restaurant for his hospitality and kind attention to all of our requirements

Amazing location on the street where elephants traverse to bathe and you have access to this property from a side street even when the main street is closed till 4pm. Staff was pleasant and uograded me to a private room when the dorms were overbooked. Great views for evening bat migration very pleasant stay overall.

My girlfriend and I had an incredible stay at Peacock village. The room was very clean and well equipped. The couple who look after the property were very kind and made a delicious dinner. Getting access to the nearby Elephant Park Hotel for breakfast and use of the swimming pool was amazing. Andrew from the hotel was incredible and helped arrange our trips to and from the hotel (free of charge) and our onward journey to Sigiriya after our stay. Would highly recommend staying here!

    Pinnawala basically has 4 main attractions therefore a...

    Pinnawala basically has 4 main attractions therefore a maximum of 2 days is sufficient. The main attraction is the elephant orphanage. Related to that is the elephant bathing at the nearby river which is fascinating. Remember the ticket you purchase for the orphanage is required for the bathing so do both in the same day as the tickets technically only valid for the day (we did not know this so we went to the orphanage in the evening and went to see the bathing the next day.. however the kind ticket officers let us go). Then there is a mini zoo where animals roam in more space than usual. You can feed animals here which could be fascinating (for a small fee). Then there is a traditional village called Iparini Gama where you can experience live style of a traditional sri lankan village.

    Spectacular area to get up and close with elephants.

    Spectacular area to get up and close with elephants. Unique experience with elephants walking thru the village for their daily bathing. General accommodation facilities were good. Bars and eateries also of reasonable standard. We stayed at Grand Royal Pinnalanda and found this quite satisfactory in services and value.

    Amazing experience to watch the elephants bathing. A number of souvenir shops on the street and limited food options. We ate in our hotel. Shops don't stay open late as most tourists leave for the day. 1 night is enough.

    The staff were very obliging.

    The staff were very obliging. We arrived at 1am, this was not a problem and they greeted us warmly. Next morning we watched elephants in river from our balcony. The events coordinator took us to a place where we could walk and swim with elephants. He stopped on side of road on way back to try coconut milk. Wonderful staff. We found the breakfast not quite to European tastes.

    We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the complete hotel staff for their remarkable kindness and assistance, which undoubtedly enhanced our stay. We reserve special gratitude for Andrew, our tour guide, whose warm welcome and generous gesture of taking us on a village tour with his car left a lasting impression. Most notably, witnessing the elephants relishing their river bath was an extraordinary experience. The soothing sound of the river from our room added a truly relaxing touch to our stay.

    Andrew was wery nice. We departed to sri lanka very early at the morning. Due to some misunderstanding they forgot to pickup us from airport, but after calling andrew, he arranged taxi for us in 10 minutes. We were at the hotel way before check in and he arranged a room for us to stay in till the room is ready. The pool with view on elephant was great and relaxing after long flight. Also the breakfast was perfect. We had very nice arrival to Sri lanka.

    Worst hotel on my entire trip through Sri Lanka. The bedrooms are old and dirty. Old and smelly Aircondition. Discusting bathroom. So many broken things everywhere: Lamps, furniture, mirrors, carpets, walls, doors...empty glassbottles in the hallway, nobody seems to be resible to pick it up. What a shame! This must have been a great hotel when it was new. But now it's just a sad looking hotel in a great location. Very disappointing.

    The staff was very cooperative and welcoming! They accommodate us nicely and make sure that we have a nice time at the hotel. Breakfast was really good with a variety of food. In the morning, you can enjoy the elephants' bathing as well. Besides the property, there are few souvenir shops with reasonable prices and value for the money items. A highly recommended hotel in Pinnawala!

    Beautiful hotel and very spacious bedroom. Dinner was only okay but the Sri Lankan breakfast was delicious! Staff was also very nice and friendly! Pool was a bit small but very clean.
