I had a wonderful experience at Kalundewa Retreat in Dambulla. The staff was incredibly pleasant and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort throughout our stay. Undoubtedly one of the best places in Sri Lanka. We have been attended to at all times with the highest level of excellence. We saw elephants from our room, attended local dances where our daughter could participate, were taken fishing on the lake, and enjoyed some wonderful days. This hotel is A MUST near many of the cultural sites in the center where you can stay for several days. We will return.

Our room was clean and spacious and had a lovely view over paddy fields, it was close to the centre of Polonnaruwa so we could walk around and explore and find dinner nearby. We only stayed one night but it was nice and we had a tasty breakfast again overlooking a beautiful view. I would recommend it if you need a stopover in Polonnaruwa. We explored the ancient city from here.
