Midelt was an interesting town/city. There is lots to explore there. We enjoyed wandering around the souk. Sitting at the foot of the mountains it is quite beautiful in the changing light. This place has the feel of a rough and ready desert town.
This place has the feel of a rough and ready desert town. It has a variety of people who live here, and was dry as a bone when we stayed. We were hoping to hike the surrounding countryside but couldn’t get it together so walked around the various neighbourhoods. This turned out to be a great experience. We found a very interesting Berber village, a completely unexpected Catholic monastery, and a very bizarre but beautiful guesthouse. The staff a really friendly and between them, speak quite a few languages. the breakfast is served in the cafe on the lower floor, which is full of locals, and serves great quality food (great chef) and drink ( from a limited menu) and not at tourist prices - so really great value The hotel is on a hill, which on top of Medelt being at 1500mts, means there is a great view from the rooms at the front of the hotel.
