I didn't like that the island lost most of it's green and I didn't see the wild nature I prefer. There was a lot of construction going on the moment I was there, I felt discomfort because of that. And maybe in 1-2 years it's going to be over I think. But on the other hand there's just amazing diving on the house reef and nearby reefs. Local island only 80 minutes with speed boat from Male and you can experience local life but also get the relaxed beach feeling. The food was not so expensive, we tried a Thai Restaurant nearby and it was delicious. In Ukulhas you can get beautiful beach with corals and amazing sea life. Excursions was way cheaper than in the resort offer. A very nice inhabited island. We stayed in a hotel front of the bikini beach, on the tip of the island. Staying in the city or opposite site of the island likely not so good. This local island can be reached by speed boat in 80 mins apart from shared ferry which is cheaper and takes longer time. There are 2 scheduled shared speed boat transfer services from Male airport to Island, 11:00 and 16:00 and from island at 09:00 and 1300 except on Fridays at 14:00 towards Male. Island has local restaurants, juice, coffee shops, 3 praying places, local grocery, souvenir shops and lot of excursion booking offices. You have more than you need in the room (e.g. iron) You even have unlimited drinking water! (Not common in Maldives). We always had hot water in the shower. We saw turtles,stingrays,reef sharks every time we were im the water. Beach was perfect for kids also. Room was clean and spacious and the breakfast were good as well. Hotel managed manta rays safari for us and people were always trying to help with anything we needed.
