Acapulco is very Mexican, by that I mean that it is very different from Cancun. If you are looking to see an authentic Mexican Beach town, this is the place. People here are resillient, they have endured the economic downturn from the Covid 19 pandemic and a Cat 5 hurricane. As in every place, it has bad areas. The combination of mountains and beach makes Acapulco unique. Loved all the rock formations and the green of the mountains and hills. It is full of history too. Acapulco was the main port for Spanish ships that carried shipments from the Phillipines then taken to Mexico City and Veracruz for the final destination, Spain. The history is in the City's Fort San Diego an pentagon shape fort right by the seawall. Moved to Acapulco in 1999. Over the years it has grown and some things, such as security, are worse, Many attractions are now shuttered. With the damage from Hurricane Otis, many yours businesses may not recover. We had two studios with balconies that had a wonderful view of the sea and the beach. Sunset was just spectacular. The pool was lovely and very clean. We would take buses and Costero 'collectivos' from across the road. There was also an excellent restaurant across the road form the hotel with really great food and service called Terra Luna.
