Really nice cabañas in a quiet area. The accomodation was big enough for two persons. The host was really friendly and helpful, and wanted our best for the stay. He also offered some bikecycles for the stay, and that was really helpful to get around. The host offered service beyond what is expected of a place to stay.

Wonderful beachside cabana with beautiful views, quiet location but very accessible to town and restaurants. Rodrigo was a fantastic and attentive host , speaks good English and went above and beyond to help us with our needs. Spacious living room, fully equipped kitchenette, and comfortable bed. A humongous tv, good WiFi, and extra niceties like coffee, wine, and bottled water. Even a jetted tub and the best shower I’ve experienced in years!

The beach club was very nice. The staff was friendly and overall we had a great experience. We booked a full body massage and it was private in our room. The beach itself is very nice. The drinks and food are bit expensive.

The host was so friendly and welcoming. He has a tuk tuk and drove us into the centre for 10 pesos a person. The host gave us tips on different tours within the area and restaurant recommendations. The room was spacious, beds were comfortable, glad there was air con. We enjoyed swimming in the pool and laying in the hammock. The back gate opens onto the beach. Front gate opens onto the main street with a shop within walking distance - also possible to walk to the centre.

We really enjoyed our stay in Celestun. The hosts were very nice and the personnel was helpful. 10/10! The kids loved the billiard and the size of the house. The rooftop terrace is also a nice place to enjoy the sun and relax.

Fabulous, small town not yet overrun with tourism. Amazing beaches/delicious food options from beachside restos and side street vendors! Multiple lodging options from dirt cheap hotels to med range to high end. Also Air bnbs and Bookings.com properties. For the adventureous traveller a real treasure! I highly recc @CasaTiaJaqui (on Airbnb) & Casa 3 Flamingos (Bookings.com). Also- Tany’s Artesenal Pizza 🍕 & more on Calle 12! Peter Pan’s for breakie! Los Pompanoe’s for shripm and Margs. La Playita for fresh fish, ceviche, cervezas! Oh and Casa Bacab for a great coffee- tours. For an afternoon with few people, great food with tables in the shade and sand, bevvies- Poseidon’s is the place! (Just a bit outside Centro)

Lots of beach activities. restaurants where you can sit with your feet in the sand and enjoy the view of the sea. Great spot for bird watching and nature touring. There are many varieties of interesting places to explore. Celestun people are super friendly and helpful. I personally recommend David Bacab as a tour guide. He lives in Celestún and is very knowledgable. Visit him at Casa Bacab coffee shop.

I'm a birder, so experiencing the boat trip to see the Amerian Flamingos was unforgettable for me (and all the other birds of the Celestun area!!!) Also, Celestun faces west across the Gulf of Mexico, so the sunsets are beautiful. The town is an amazing cultural experience too. The people are wonderful. The LONG stretch of beach is quiet and clean. Motor taxis are everywhere if you don't have a car. See David at the coffee shop Casa Bacab for remarkable guided birding.

Celestun is not a pretty town, but its proximity to the mangroves and flamingos makes it special. (It's a Unesco site.) The beachside restaurants offer great seafood (coconut shrimp! ceviche!) and the prices are pretty good. Since they close down at nightfall, there are some good options in town around the main square. We didn't do a tour of the mangroves, since we had done that a few years ago, but that and seeing the flamingos are very popular activities. The beach is popular with lots of shells along the shore, and a lovely sandy bottom when you're in the water. We aren't big 'beach people' but we really enjoyed our stay and will come back again, I'm sure. We took a bus from Merida (very inexpensive at 68 pesos each way per person) -- lots of stops along the way, but the other alternatives are a rental car or a tour. This worked for us!

For birdwatching: Guardians de Los Manglares de Dzinintun.

For birdwatching: Guardians de Los Manglares de Dzinintun. We did the kayak tour and our guide Zac really enhanced our experience. When we spent the rest of the day on the beach, we could identify almost every bird we saw. Get a big meal at one of the beachside restaurants around 3ish (my favorite was La Palapa), and then a small meal of tacos or tortas in the town square around 8. It's important to know that the beaches are full of shells. A pro for some travelers and a con for others.

This place is paradise .

This place is paradise . It’s under developed yes but that’s part of its charm. Wish there were a bit more facilities and better hotels around but at the same time nothing to fancy or big developments because it’s a conservation area so it really should be cared for and treated properly and with respect. The nature there is outstanding . More of the right eco friendly investment in the area would make it a superb destination. The flamingos and sunset are like nothing else I have seen before.

My wife and I were quite happy with the hotel. The beds were comfy, the AC worked (although we didn't need it because of the nice ceiling fan), the screen in the window was good, it was super close to the beach, and the room was very clean. Our only complaint was the lack of hot warmer. I would say it was warm at best, but it was hot outside so it didn't really bother us. I would definitely go back again. Oh yeah, there is a little pharmacy/cafe about a block away that sells coffee in the morning which was quite nice.

The property was very well kept and clean, as well as being quiet and safe. Though we didn't have time, there were a few paddleboards and kayaks available for guests. The pool area is particularly nice. Our interactions with hotel staff and ownership were prompt, efficient and polite. For example, they gladly put us in touch with a conservation group to tour Ria Celestun early the next morning. Playa 55 certainly looked like one of the best options for a stay in Celestun, whether one night or a week.
