Aurland is a quiet town with a well-stocked grocery and an excellent bakery. It is not a port of call for the huge Sognefjord cruise ships, so it is not overrun by tourists multiple times a day. By car, the town is 20 minutes from Flåm, 35 minutes from Lærdal via the Lærdalstunnelen (the world's longest road tunnel, at almost 25km), and 2.5 hours from Bergen. A refueling station is located just south of town, off the E-16 roundabout. It offers reasonable prices for electric vehicle charging and petrol/diesel fuel. Its a place which has lots of amazing things to do, every corner has a picture perfect view. In the beginning you might feel that 2-3 days are enough but I think you at least need 5 days. Good place to stay, we went to flam and Odda. Going and coming back from Odda was little bit hectic because it was raining heavily, the roads are very small, there are some places where there is only one lane, no two vehicles will fit. so be careful at such road. Aurland is a beautiful and peaceful place with breathtaking scenery all around. The fjord views are unforgettable, and the surrounding mountains make it feel truly magical. It’s a perfect destination for relaxing, enjoying nature, and exploring nearby attractions like Flåm. Wonderful location to celebrate holidays through out the year . Fjords and hike added extra value to the journey . There is a lot to do and view at the place . There is a small supermarket called coop next to the flam station which is helpful to buy necessary items . There are 2 coffee shops at the bus station at Flam . I would not depend on restaurants at Aurland . Flam is only 15 minutes away by car from Aurland, so , it will be a better idea to have food or buy food stuff from Flam ,especially because restaurants are closed after 5-6 in the evening at Aurland in Winter . They say, restaurants are open for longer time during summer . Only problem is public transport . There is not enough public transport facility between Flam and Aurland ,so we had to rely on local taxi services . However it is within camping, and the bungalow is equipped with a small kitchen, a bathroom, a sofa and a TV, so it is not necessary to use the shared services of the camping. The beds are in a separate room, which is very useful when travelling with small kids. The bungalow has a small porch and table in front of the river, it was very relaxing at night. It’s a serene village with nice walks , a little gastro pub across the road and a helpful Spar supermarket. Felt like home. Aurlandsfangen is a gem at the fjords. Walking, kayak, biking, restaurants, …. All is possible here. The view from every window is like a painting. The room is clean and tidy and the kitchen is fully equipped.
