The unit was very well equipped with extra touches that made it more comfortable, like lamps and mirrors, convenient hooks and extra towels, and even lollies and cookies. It is walking distance to town and has a laundromat next door as well as a petrol station if you should need any extra supplies.

When we arrived the cottage was cold, but it had been empty and the temperature had seriously dropped. After lighting the fire, it warmed up very quickly. In the evening we closed the kitchen and bathroom doors and both bedrooms heated up lovely from the fire. There was plenty of wood in the wood shed, we did not have any worries about keeping warm. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. It has a wonderful shower with lovely hot water.

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful when planning our time around Martinborough. The room was spotless, and there was plenty of room for our family to stretch out. Our kids appreciated the trampoline in the yard, and we appreciated the central location for what we wanted to do.

This is a gorgeous house located very centrally. It was perfect for us group of friends to go to Greytown and enjoy the mid-winter Christmas festival on foot. Fireplace was so warm and cosy and the Christmas decorations were a lovely additional touch.

We were just passing through to go to Martinborough, Lake Ferry and Cape Palliser the next day then on to Masterton. Visited a dear friend in Carterton and had dinner at their place so really didn't experience much of Carterton.

Loved the setting and area so much that we stayed an extra night, not wanting to leave. Nice relaxing region, noticed a lot of shops opened later and closed earlier than other places, or only opened on certain days, which made it easier to relax and unwind.

I was impressed with the modern stonehenge built out on a farm 10-15 minutes outside Carterton. I never knew it existed prior to the trip, but was a really interesting place to visit. There's a good selection of wineries to visit and the wildlife centre out at Mount Bruce was well worth a visit.
