The interiors! The location! The views! We’ve traveled to 65 countries and never fell in love with a home so deeply like this one. The design, the warmth, the views of lake tekapo, the night sky, the cleanliness, convenience, area, ease of access. It’s huge! 3 bedrooms! We were four but it could have easily fit 8. The rooms were clean and at the level of a hotel. There were mini bags of laundry detergent, make up removing wipes - so many thoughtful little touches that the couple Jen & Hamish set out for their guests. We had NZ staple snack set aside for us upon arrival. Jen and Hamish are the best hosts ever, I actually met them and asked them if they would do another as we just loved the home. It gets booked out fast, so if in tekapo, I wouldn’t wait to book it.

Set above the village of Tekapo, the lodge is in an ideal location for a peaceful escape. Within walking distance to shops , restaurants and The Good Shepherd Church. The views over the lake and the Southern Alps are breathtaking and they can be enjoyed from almost every corner of the lodge. This single storey lodge consists of two bedrooms and one bathroom with lake views from the living and deck area. The open plan lounge features modern décor, a flat screen TV, high speed internet. Double glazed doors open up from the living room to a sheltered outdoor deck where you can soak up the sun and enjoy the view during the day and star gazing at night. The high spec kitchen is equipped with quality appliances, crockery, cutlery and cookware. Washer dryer, dishwasher included. The two bedrooms feature queen sized bed with external bathroom. Ideal for couples or a family with children. All beds are almost new and excellent quality and each bedroom has its own heater. Clean sheets and towels. They have a mini petting zoo and star gazing tour near the lodge as well. Recommending to everyone to stay at least two nights

Super easy to collect keys that were left for us in a secure box. The shared kitchen is large and well equipped. Lovely living space and even with several other couples staying it never felt cramped or busy. Clean shared bathrooms and comfy beds. A lovely stay

    I have been Late Tekapo 3 times, it is more expensive than it was. My recommendation is, stargazing is the only reason to make you stay in Lake Tekapo. Otherwise you could find a better and less expensive accomodation nearby.

    Lake Tekapo is a beautiful place to visit.

    Lake Tekapo is a beautiful place to visit. The water is bright blue, and you can still see snowy mountains all around in October. The Church of the Good Shepherd is small but very famous and great for photos. At night, the stars are amazing because the sky is so clear. You can also enjoy walking around the small town and take in the breathtaking views from the top of Mt John. It’s a quiet and relaxing place — perfect for a short trip.

    I adore Lake Tekapo. Views for days. Good hot pools. Peaceful. A decent serious hike up Mt John to the Observatory Cafe or an easier one up to Cowes Lookout, both with amazing views. I've been going for years - still small but a good supermarket now and more eateries. It is getting busier and pricey, both accommodation and eateries. On the road to Queenstown so an easy stopover. Go with a car if you can - a side trip into Aoraki Mt Cook and walks up the Hooker Valley are worth it.

    Lake Tekapo will continue to be a place I will come back for...

    Lake Tekapo will continue to be a place I will come back for my holidays and invite friends and family to join. In time, I believe it will be comparable to Wanaka, Queenstown but with more relaxing atmosphere. Hope to see more eateries / restaurants / fine dining in due course.

    It is a perfect pit stop if anyone travelling from...

    It is a perfect pit stop if anyone travelling from Christchuch to Wanaka. We picked our car at Christchurch airport & continued to Lake Tekapo (took around 3 - 3.5 hrs with multiple stops) and stayed here overnight. There are a few reasonable restaurants available close to the hotel in Lake Takepo and most of them close around 8.30 pm. Following next day morning we checked out & visited the famous Shepherd church & lake Tekapo which are next to each other & close to the village shop centre. It is a beautiful location with all the necessary arrangements & perfect pit stop as I said before.

    Beautiful place for family and friends or individuals.

    Beautiful place for family and friends or individuals. Not like Queenstown which gave me a city feeling and the traffic was like Auckland CBD. For people who look for nature, not shopping and plenty of eating, I would recommend Tekapo, but not Queenstown. I like the Chinese restaurant there and the Lakeview. Also very easy ro get around Tekapo.

    We were upgraded for free to a 2 bdrm upstairs apartment in Lake Tekapo Village Motel. Everything you need in a home and more. Great location facing the lake. Restaurants, shops and Foursquare all walking distance. Staff were all fantastic. Nothing is wrong here. Really appreciate the kind thoughts.
