Casa de Salcantay is the perfect place to prepare for a trek to Choquequirao! The host, Yovana, is a very kind woman who helped me prepare for the trek and provided me with very useful information. The entire atmosphere was welcoming, the room was big and comfortable, and the views were amazing. Can fully recommend!

The food included was the best I’ve eaten in South America. The staff went above and beyond to cater to all our needs. And the location was truly stunning.

Cachora is a authentic village, perfect to relax and get an impression of authentic peruvian rural life. It lies in a valley with amazing views of the mountains and it is the start of the path to Choquequirao ruins. It is worth it to spend some time before and after the trek here. It is very easy to organise it individually without paying extra money for a tour from Cusco. It is nice to have lunch in the simple restaurant at the plaza with the local police officers, nurses and farmers.
