FAQs about hotels in Gdańsk

Charming Architecture And a Breath of History

Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything a city of this scale needs: a fascinating history, great architecture and a friendly atmosphere!

Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town, Sopot. It’s also a birthplace of the world-famous Solidarity movement, which helped to bring down the Communist rule in Poland initiating the end of the Cold War era.

Its charming buildings were rebuilt in a historical style after the near-complete destruction during the World War II. The colourful town houses of the Old Town can be admired by boat on the Motlawa River or enjoyed while strolling along the popular Long Street and Long Market.

While in Gdańsk, make sure you visit the 15th-century St Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in Europe, and you make a wish at the Neptune Fountain, the city’s patron. While in town, try the legendary local Goldwasser liqueur with 22 karat gold flakes!

Whether you reach Gdańsk by train or plane, Booking.com offers a variety of accommodation near the Lech Walesa Airport, the picturesque Old Town or the general city centre.

Beautiful city full of great restaurants with amazing food.

Beautiful city full of great restaurants with amazing food. The Chleb and Wino restaurant is a must. Gdansk is a city with a very reach history, many historic places to visit. Also it’s very enjoyable to take a short cruise to a beautiful town of Sopot for a day for a Baltic Sea experience.

    What a gorgeous city!

What a gorgeous city! Plenty of interesting historical sites, museums and an amazing choice of restaurants. I found the most meaningful sites to be the World War II museum and the amber altar at St. Briget's Cathedral. Make sure to purchase the audio guide at the museum. I've recently had hip surgery and walked A LOT but there are plenty of beautiful parks and benches if I needed to rest.

    Wonderful city. Interesting.

Wonderful city. Interesting. The old part of the city is paved and is inconvenient if you have a small child and a stroller. There are very good playgrounds in shopping malls where children can play. You can find many restaurants with tasty food and wonderful sweets. Just the polish food is delicious.

    Beautiful and interesting city.

Beautiful and interesting city. Of all museums/exhibitions visited, the Solidarity Museum was my favourite. Travel by public transport was excellent and very cheap. The bus was free for over 65s, who also got a discount on the trains (just need to carry ID to prove your age, no need for faffing about with Senior Railcard). It’s also very clean, including the public transport.

Beautiful city, mostly rebuilt as much of the original was destroyed at the end of the war. Many things to do and see, for young and old alike. Good friendly atmosphere with helpful people. Felt safe to walk around, even in late evening. Excellent public transport system. Many good restaurants and bars. Hope to go again soon. Recommended.

    Beautiful, interesting churches and buildings.

Beautiful, interesting churches and buildings. Very good museums. All very walkable. Riverfront and main square full of side walk restaurants, shops, coffeehouses. Many scattered throughout the old area as well. Although mostly rebuilt after WWII like much of Poland, it still gave you plenty of old world atmosphere coupled with modern services.

It is an interesting concept, but more aimed at young people. The hotel has opened 2 weeks ago and everything is really new and fresh. There are many facilities inside the building, e.g. sauna, living and dining room. The location is perfect and it is a short walk from the old town. There's also an underground parking slot, but we had problems with booking and it didn't open automatically when we wanted to drive out. Our studio was very spacious and comfortable.

Most beautiful room I've ever stayed in, cozy, spacious beautiful design with amazing attention to details all over the hotel. It's the third puro we visited in Poland and this was our favourite :) view from the room was amazing too, overlooking cute cobbled street and typical colourful buildings

This was a friendly hotel for our first night of a short stay in Poland. It is easily accessible from Gdansk Airport and is within striking distance of the old town and the main railway station.
