We were very happy that we chose to stay in Oswiecim rather than just travelling there from Krakow. Ok, we are not a young couple, I am 72 and my wife is 55 but we find the area safe, quiet and beautiful. Its a small slice of heaven. We walk everywhere and its a true joy. The Old Town is quaint and small and a 1 k walk from our unit, there are old buildings and forts nearby and a river and beautiful parklands there with a cafe and restaurants. Great cakeshops and cafes. You can walk safely all over, just look up Google maps for ideas. Its 60 to 90 mins on new electric trains to Krakow. Only thing that let it down was the restaurant we ate at… Chata na Zaborskiej. We planned that meal for a week, visited the restaurant when we arrived the night before to make sure it was going to be what we expected. The staff were really nice and helpful… but the food… all courses for both of us were bland, uncooked for one of them and not anything we could recommend to others. Oświęcim is a beautiful town! There are so many places to walk and bike, historical things to see, lots of nature and fresh air. I really enjoyed its peaceful vibe!
