The views are stunning, really spectacular views of the mountains and the small village in the valley below. The pool isn't deep enough for lengths or anything but it's nice to cool off after the hot tub with the views. All the staff were lovely and accommodating. The rooms were huge. The restaurant was nice with good food and the wait staff were very kind and welcoming.

I've been to Madeira many times, but I don't think I've ever been as happy with the accommodation as I was this time. The house is behind the Curral das Freiras (counting from Funchal), not many tourists come there. I came to do a bit of hiking in the mountains because of many marked trails in the area, and to rest after the hike. Peace and quiet are the things I'm looking for - and I've found them there. A great place in every way. The area is very peaceful and quiet. There is little car traffic, mainly direct public transport buses to Funchal (the access road is of good quality). Stable and fast internet access. I had the entire first floor of the house at my disposal - a very large living room with a wide sofa and two beds, a well equipped kitchen corner, and a bathroom. Also a long balcony terrace with table and chairs, facing south, very sunny. The bed was very comfortable. Very clean everywhere. Good value for money. The owners are very nice and helpful with problems. You can count on help in difficult situations (unfortunately, such a difficult situation happened to me, for which I apologize and thank them for help). There is a good restaurant 7 minutes up the hill (in Faja Escura).

The place is magical. You will have the best view into the Nuns Valley and the house is so spacious. There's even a second kitchen and three terraces to enjoy various views. There's even a bus stop right outside the house so you can come from Funchal by bus. We recommended staying here for more than just a day as there is so much to explore around the area and it's just so beautiful. A very nice home that feels "homey" right from the start

I really loved the hotel! It is stylish, rooms are nice and clean, it is located in the calm area of city center. Stuff is friendly and caring, I spent there 9 days and felt like in the family. Breakfast is really good and fresh, also hotel is small and it's never busy in cafe. Really recommend the hotel either you are staying 1 night or 9 (like I did).

    The staff were extremely helpful to make special arrangements for us The rooms and view unbelievable!! I am not sure if it was at the hotel we contacted a vomitting virus but as soon as we got home we had it for several days. I guess this is very infectious and difficult to control

    Curral das ferreiras is very quiet, peacefully and tourist friendly.Ideally if you want the quiet after a day from touring the Island . Definitely you need a car to travel to other places in the Island . We stayed there 3 nights of our holiday that was perfect.

    Location was beautiful, in the quiet Curral das Freiras. The accommodation was very spacious, and the perfect get away, with great access to nearby hikes into the mountains, and spectacular views. It was comfy place to return, and relax, with great facilities to cook our food, and enjoy the area. Also a huge thank you to the owners as I had lost my AirPods, and they kindly messaged me to let me know that they found them, and I was able to pick them up a few days later. Overall a great place to stay, I highly recommend :)

    The apartman is very well situated in the middle of village named Curral das Freiras. The whole building is after full reconstruction and therefore the apartman is equiped with the latest modern style furniture and electric devices. We lived on the second floor. I would recommend this apartman for families with enthusiast hikers because it's reallly great starting point. Mrs. Isabel is very polite and she helped me with all my quires. Thank you!

    A huge house just for us. A very nice and comfortable patio with shadow and sun and a plum tree (delicious fruits). Usually, it's a good location for hikes (in September 2024, three of four hiking routes were closed). But the bus 81 takes only 45 minutes to Funchal and from there a lot of activities can be done. Curral das Freiras has a supermarket and a few very nice restaurants and a bakery (open from the early morning till 10 pm).

    The view from this place is incredible. I'd recommend it to a small group (2-4) who plan to spend most of their time outside. Curral das Freiras is a lovely area and there are three outside terraces with amazing views. Owner communication was good.
