The buzz and the friendliness of the people.

The buzz and the friendliness of the people. Great food and a high standard in terms of quality, service and cleanliness. There is so much to see and experience from walking along the Dom Luis 1 bridge with the metro slipping by and an aerial view of the city below to sitting having a drink at the end of a days exploring in the tiny square at the bottom of Rua da Flores listening to some great and soulful live music. You don't have to do it all in one day.. slow down and enjoy the moments.

We loved getting lost in the back streets.

We loved getting lost in the back streets. Unfortunately (and I am one) there are too many tourists. We had been in smaller towns and were a bit blown away by the number of tour groups in buses, boats etc. we did the Douro Valley train ride on our own only to find you can’t visit wineries without bookings so if you don’t book just catch the train up to Pochino and back for some amazing scenery, especially from Pinhão to Pochino. Take a picnic and have on the train. Catch the tram out to the beach to get away from the crowds and have a swim between the two light houses. Visit the quirky museums especially the World of Discoveries!!! And the Marionette Museum.

Plenty to see: busy waterfront with cafes, bars and restaurants; churches, including two adjacent but separated by a 1m wide house allegedly to keep the monks away from the nuns and vice versa). If you stay at Pao de Acucar most things are within 15mins walk. Recommend a boat trip up the Douro, either short trip under the bridges or day trip to Pinhao with port/wine tasting (three huge barriers with locks on the way). Serralves Park, home of the Museum of Contemporary Art, worth at least half a day (Kew or Wakehurst but with large sculptures in the park. Good metro and bus system if you don't want to walk.

Porto is a wonderful city to visit, so easy to get around and beautiful streets, shops, markets and architecture around every corner! Spent a lovely sunny afternoon wandering along the riverside. Highly recommend joining the crowds to watch the sunset along the Dom Luis I Bridge and the Jardim do Morro.

    Porto was great!

Porto was great! We are walkers (ages 72 and 80 in excellent shape) and yet quite challenged by the terrain. Still, we were proud of ourselves for accomplishing the topography! We trekked up and down from the Douro River to Taylor's Port, back down, and then up again to the top of the Se' Porto Cathedral, through the overwhelming Mercado do Bolhao, and back to our apartment. BTW, there were excellent restaurants along the way. We delighted in the cuisine at the Majestic Cafe, Bacalhau, Impar, and Bulha. Porto is not to be missed!

North bank of river Douro is very pretty to walk along, with its tiled houses, but the same river trips on offer are 2 euros cheaper if you cross the Luis 1 bridge to the other side (where the Port companies are based). And the food court on that south side: Mercado Beira-Rio, sited amongst the Port houses was our favourite spot for a meal and a drink - best value for money, lots of choice, and a great atmosphere. It has fruit and bakery stalls too - if you'd rather take away items for a picnic.

Hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful, great and nice people. You can leave your baggage after check-out. Location is also great, in walking distance to all touristic locations, surrounded by a tons of cafes and restaurants. Really good price for this location. We were in January, and even with heater it was a little bit cold in the room, but it is more about overall Portugal problem, we met this problem in every hotel that we have stayed in this trip.

Highly recommended. 100 % unbelievable. An amazing experience. My children really loved it and it was super cool to them sleeping and living on a boat! He had everything we needed with a very good high quality breakfast - The host Osvaldo and his son, Thiago, were eager to help. They made every single thing perfect. We wish Osvaldo were our uncle in Portugal. We would like to stay in sleep yatch hotel in the other places in our future.

The hotel is located near a pedestrian road with many souvenir shops, restaurants, laundrette, and is walking distance (20 minutes) from the biggest attractions like the double deck bridge by the Duoro River. Reception staff are friendly, the rooms had all the modern conveniences of a good hotel and by comparison with others in Portugal, it was superior. and highly functional. Buffet breakfast was good too.
