A luxury, purpose-built resort along the Algarve region coastline offering a variety of accommodation ranging from 5-star hotels to villas and apartments, Vilamoura is the largest complex of its type in Europe. It is conveniently located, 16 km from Albufeira and 25 km from Faro Airport.
Its heart and soul lies around the exclusive Marina, while the 20 square kilometre development is flanked by a Golf Academy and 6 Golf Courses. Although the area was developed from scratch by the Porto banker Cupertino de Miranda in 1974, its origins date back to Roman times. The Cerro da Vila Museum tells the story of the ancient fishing town, and displays the ruins of the Roman baths from the 1st century.

Vilamoura was even better than I expected!
Vilamoura was even better than I expected! The marina was HUGE and had everything, there were beach clubs dotted around further afield from the marina, everywhere was clean, great place for a 'let your hair down' trip but equally a great place for a more chilled one. 19th Hole was good for live music.
