FAQs about hotels in Portorož

Slovenia’s Adriatic Spa Resort

Portorož is the most popular beach resort on Slovenia’s small but undulating coastline. It was first developed as a health resort and several spas remain. The largest is the Terme & Wellness LifeClass Portorož, offering treatments using local products such as salt pan mud, seawater and thermal mineral water.

The huge complex is surrounded by some of the 4 and 5-star hotels available on Booking.com. Nearby is the Hotel Kempinski Palace, a historic property built in 1910 as a retreat for Austro-Hungarian officials. Other Portorož accommodation options include guest houses with pools and beachfront apartments.

The beaches are of course why most people come. The main, sandy beach is awash with colourful parasols in summer, while offshore watersports include diving and water skiing. Boat trips from the marina sail along the coast and even to Venice and Trieste in Italy.

As the temperature cools down, the nightlife heats up as people start hitting the bars and clubs. Several casinos also provide another way to spend some time…and money, and there are also relaxed restaurants where you can enjoy the sunset.

Portorož Airport is just south of the city and in the opposite direction is Piran whose Venetian old town spread over a promontory provides a more cultural offering.

A pleasant place mainly thanks to the people and services in the area. It is more about getting to know and meeting people. There are no nice beaches here, the coast is just a pile of concrete. Entering the sea without shoes in the water is quite unpleasant.

    All was great and nearby.

All was great and nearby. The prices are regular, even on beach restaurants by the sea was not so bad if we compare it to for instatnce Croatia. In supermarkets you buy all you need. First time in Portoroz, but definitely not the last.

Portorož and Piran are two stunning coastal towns in southwestern Slovenia, located along the Adriatic Sea. Portorož is a lively seaside resort known for its sandy beaches, luxury hotels, wellness centers, and vibrant nightlife. In contrast, Piran is a charming medieval town with narrow streets, Venetian-style architecture, and a rich maritime history. Visitors can explore Tartini Square, the town walls, St. George’s Cathedral, and enjoy fresh seafood at local restaurants. The area is also famous for Piran salt pans, producing high-quality sea salt for centuries.

Portorož is a great destination for a mid-winter holiday. There are plenty of interesting walks, like along the beach promenade, and excellent restaurants close to the hotel we stayed at (the Boutique Hotel). Every place we went to was very pet-friendly.

We really loved both the house and the location. The accommodation was very clean and everything is in very good condition and seems very new. The host was friendly and knowledgeable and was on hand to help with anything, from bringing the bbq over to our house to recommending a local delicacy to try. Although we didn't like Portoroz we were really close to the border with Croatia so went to the beach in Sauvidrija every day. It worked for us. Lovely house, really quiet location. Easy to travel to other towns and cities.

The hotel has a free parking and is close to the sea. I liked the breakfast, but it didn't have anything hot, but there was a microwave. The tea and coffee were great. I really didn't like that they don't accept EU ID cards for the check in and ask for the passport. All the other hotels in Europe - Spain, Poland, Greece, Denmark, Belgium and many others) accepted exactly the same ID cards for the check in, so I don't know what happened in this one that they don't accept it

It was our second stay at Hotel Histrion and we absolutly like it. We came with our 3 year old son and enjoy some time in the swimming area where he can enjoy the baby/child pool and we can enjoy the sea view -- which is really incredible. The Hotel is new renovated and has all ammendities in the room you need. Piran and Portoroz are both very close and can be reached by walking or bus.

This is our second stay at this hotel and it is excellent value for money. The hotel is clean and beautiful, the staff friendly and attentive, the hotel braekfast buffet better than most I've had and I cannot recommend it enough. Also, there waa a pillow menu in case you don't like sleeping on the puffy hotel pilloes and it meant EVERYTHING! Will surely stay again.
