The level of rubbish, care-worn facilities, unkempt beaches made for a very disappointing vacation. Very little information or promotion of the heritage/antiquities at carthage, Bardo museum or in the medinas. The traditional souks appear to have been replaced by stalls selling cheap trainers, clothes, copy watches and handbags. Sousse, in general, is nice if you are looking for resort-type beaches and vibes; it is a bit shabby, and everywhere seems to be piles of rubbish and construction debris. The medina could use a deep clean to make it feel nicer. The people are friendly but very insistent, and most people (not shopkeepers) will go out of their way to help; it shows their kindness. If you are staying at a resort and have a bracelet attached, try to hide it when roaming around, as it attracts scammers and high-priced taxis. 2 to 3 days is enough. The constant scammers are quite annoying. Taxi's are cheap but insist it is a meter journey and sit in the front to see the fare. Cafes are good but check your menu vs bill. Staff couldn't have done any more for us. The waiters were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Food was fantastic with lots of choice and variety as well as local Tunisian foods to try. Even though the hotel was quiet there was still plenty to do. The animation team were fantastic! Joe, Sam, Symo, Luca and the others were friendly and took time to get to know the guests remembering names and even speaking to us in Welsh. It is also extremely easy to catch a Bolt to go anywhere since a main road is around 3 minutes away on foot. The host was extremely helpful and assisted us on multiple occasions. The beach, exactly as described, is around 30 meters from the flat. The Dar is kept in an authentic Arab fashion and feels like a place from 1001 Nights. Walking distance to the port, the grande mosquée and the fort of Sousse.
