Blowing Rock is the prettiest and most dog friendly town. If you visit only one North Carolina mountain town, make it Blowing Rock. I wouldn't recommend it for the physically challenged, but for the able bodied, it is a dream destination. Walking is essential. From the streets, to the parks, to shopping, and nearby Bass Lake, you will easily put in around 5 miles a day. Even just driving through is a treat for the eyes. Great room with a fridge, microwave and coffee machine. Friendly staff. Very clean facilities. Only complaint was that there are no grab bars on the shower. The Blowing Rock itself is wonderful with amazing views, and great historical information provided. The actual downtown area is very quaint with a nice choice of restaurants and shops; however, the stores/shops are so overpriced that only wealthy individuals can afford to shop there. Also, be prepared to pay a high price for a very basic lunch. Common souvenirs are not affordable and to pay over $10.00 for an ice cream cone is ridiculous.Guest review byDoreenUnited States

We've been traveling across America for two months, mostly staying in hotels or RV parks, and this cabin/lodge made such a nice change. The two bedroom lodge had separate bedrooms and the kitchen was really well equipped. Sitting by the gas fire was very cozy. Fishing for trout in the pond was a bonus!
