We love visiting Helen - the food, the shopping, their events in the Festhalle. Our favorite restaurants, so far, are Bodensee and Cowboys & Angels. We've visited Helen 4 times and have yet to get into Hofer Bakery & Cafe but we've only heard wonderful things and have SEEN their amazing bakery items. If you need groceries or forgotten some favorite snack, I would highly recommend Betty's Country Store. They have a meat department, deli, fresh produce, bakery, specialty food items, wine, and gifts plus they have the largest German beer selection in GA. Fun town to enjoy a laidback Octoberfest. Great people everywhere we went and everyone was enjoying themselves responsibly. Fun shops and plenty of hiking, ziplining, antiquing, historical areas and beautiful waterfalls to enjoy. crowded for Octoberfest, but nice weather. Hofer's is always good, Bigg Daddy's patio is not dog friendly. Two Tire Tavern patio is. Great waitress there. Mark of the Potter is lovely for pottery. Unicoi SP used to have a great breakfast buffet, that is sadly gone. Hiking and waterfalls galore. Helen, GA is Bavarian-themed mountain town.
Helen, GA is Bavarian-themed mountain town. You can park your car and walk everywhere. Dining is great as well. Many different choices to pick from for the picky eater. A lot of German foods and items within the town. We go during Oktoberfest and enjoy the bands at the Fest Halle. The Chattahoochee is a great place to go tubing. Relaxing getaway.
Relaxing getaway. One full day with one overnight is sufficient unless you plan activities outside of town. Locals welcoming. Very dog friendly. Hofbrauhaus Restaurant soso. If you have kids or are adventurous, river tubing is available. We had lunch watching people mosey down the water. There are so many shops that can be explored, specialty fudge, cheeses, toys, blown glass, and on and on. There is minerature golf course, and camping areas too. Many places are pet friendly as well. Our room was 116 right beside the office and we were pleased with this. The room was very nice . It was clean , bedspreads had a few stains on them but we could tell they had been washed.
