    Historical area with Vanderbilt and Mills mansions in addition to FDR Presidential library to visit. Best of all was Culinary Institute of America which has several restaurants serving outstanding meals. Be sure to get a reservation well in advance. We visited in early Spring so much more happening in surrounding towns in Summer

    Hyde Park is not a large town but close to the large Poughkeepsie if you need more excitement. All Roosevelt parks were within 10 mn drive plus the Vanderbilt mansion. Quite interesting tours and information. Try a meal at the Eveready Diner where there is a food for every taste.

    The National Park Service had limited staff so several of the smaller FDR properties were not opened and some only some days of the week. All the FDR properties we saw were excellent. The area has other attractions including the Culinary Institute and the lovely town Rheinbeck are excellent.

    There was bugs on the rug, pretzels on the rug that we did not bring, toilet bowl was absolutely disgusting, couldn’t get the shower to go, molding coming off the wall. I took pictures. I couldn’t believe it

    We had booked and paid for 2 nights. However, we could never locate the property as the proper and complete address were not given. The host would not answer phone calls. Ultimately after having driven around for more than 3 hours trying in vain to locate the property we had to check in a hotel at 2 am in the night. The following day also the host would neither answer our calls or calls from the aggregator booking.com through which we had booked the property. We were cheated.

    The breakfast was delicious. With a great variety, portion sensitive approach which reduces waste. A very nice balance between modern style and country chic. The hotel is very quiet, the parking lot was quite full but we never heard excessive noise or felt any kind of overcrowding.

    A basic hotel, but good value for a comfortable bed. Staff spoke very little English so communication not easy. Breakfast items basic and quickly ran out, and were not replaced
