so many good places to eat. our favorite is RIVERPORT BBQ for casual dining and 1852 for more upscale dining. Riverport - great prices, staff and best ribs you'll ever eat (as well as the other foods). 1852 - what can i say - atmosphere and food top tier. jefferson quant little town with great hospitality.

We didnt get to see much of the town because we were basically just passing thru at the end of a longer trip. Would have loved to have had time for shopping and visiting around the city. It looked very interesting. We ate at 1852 on Austin and the food was very good. The croissant rolls with dinner were amazing. Service was good and it is a beautiful restaurant. Stayed at the Kahn hotel hoping for some ghost sightings. Would have loved to see inside the Jefferson Hotel but unfortunately it is only open on request.

Very quaint little town with beautiful homes and very nice people. We ate at two different restaurants and the food and staff were wonderful at both. We ate at McGarity's and the gumbo was delicious as well as their shrimp and grits. We also ate at 1852 and the salmon was wonderful and staff wonderful as well. Highly recommend both for either a relaxed atmosphere or a nice evening out. I do recommend a boat tour of Caddo lake to properly see its beauty. We booked with Mystique Tours and found the captain extremely knowledgeable about the lake and history of the area. Will be going back again because there was more to see and do.

Jefferson and Caddo Lake are a wonderful place to visit.

Jefferson and Caddo Lake are a wonderful place to visit. There is a lot of Texas history to see in a short time. The annual spring festival is great. They had a real civil war battle reenactment. 4 historic homes were available for touring along with Jay Gould's private rail car. There are many unique places to eat and shop. I was particularly fond of the fudge shop and the Blackburn's Jelly store where items were half of what I can by them for at home. There were also many more choices like Cherry-Blueberry and Huckleberry.

Cute small town with lots of historical homes, antique shops, and tourist shops. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday Had limited choices for restaurants. Everything closes early. It was pretty dead on Sunday at 7:30 during North Texas spring break.

We rode on the historic train ride and got to watch them feed the alligators which we enjoyed, and did the Turning Basin Bayou boat tour and Shaggy our captain was very knowledgeable about the history and made it so interesting. Also went to Lonesome Dove Safari and enjoyed feeding the animals and riding the little train. Also went to the general store and had an ice cream cone and went to the state park and wildlife refuge. We ate dinner at Don Juans Mexican restaurant. Food was great and so was my margaritas! Waitresses were very nice. It was a great weekend trip!

The manager was very involved with keeping us comfortable regarding the temperature of the hotel . She also made sure we had a coffee maker for the morning since it does not come automatically with the room and we are early risers. and look for breakfast before their usual breakfast schedule.

Affordable! Comfortable bed, short drive from historic downtown. Furnishings comfortable though dated. I liked the pretty shear curtains under effective blackout shades. Owner accommodated our request for a quieter room on the hotel backside.
