I found 2 nice coffee shops.
I found 2 nice coffee shops. The Blacksmith had better choices of breakfast food items. The place was very interesting and friendly. I visited with a couple who was also travelling and sightseeing. Later, I saw their names in the guestbook of the Birger Sandzen Art Gallery, the #1 place I recommended.
The White Peacock, 2nd coffee shop--on the 2nd day was also well decorated. The coffee was fine at both places (I only drink coffee, not lattes, etc.) I had my coffee and yogurt inside, the locals were visiting and having their coffee on the sidewalk in front. When I was finished, I saw a sign that said check out our Courtyard. That's when I went out the back door and discovered where I should have had my breakfast. A beautiful shaded, well planted garden with water features and great yard art!
If you like art, you will love Lindsborg. The MUST Visits are the Birger Sandzen Art Gallery on the Bethany College Campus and the Lester Rayner Art Museum in the house he lived in on Main Street.
The Old Mill has a local history museum and more art. I also drove out to the Coronado Heights, a short drive NW of town. The views and the wildflowers at the top are well worth the drive.
The only restaurant in town that I got to try was Crown & Rye. Simple surroundings with gourmet choices. I indulged in the lambchops! The service was very good and friendly too!
Oh, I also visited the Library. They have a room of books for sale! Don't miss going out the backdoor to see the mural that covers the exterior back wall. I would have missed it, but the friendly librarian told me about it.
All the streets I drove down were clean. There are lots of beautiful and beautifully decorated homes and gardens throughout the town. Also terrific trees throughout!!
Enjoy Lindsborg! I love my hometown, too, Leavenworth--First City in Kansas--lots of history, also beautiful trees and homes, but going to Lindsborg is a treat!

Lindsborg is a lovely little town.
Lindsborg is a lovely little town. It is like stepping into an old Swedish settlement. The museum and especially the Mill are well worth seeing for any culture or history lover. There are beautiful parks with interesting play-yards and walks to take. Highly recommend checking out the churches. So many beautiful buildings. I especially recommend the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. I don't believe I have ever seen a more beautiful church outside of Europe. We would recommend the Crown and Rye, on Main St., as a place to eat. It is much like an old Inn. Food is a bit high end but reasonable and quite good. See if you can find all the Dalas (Swedish style painted Ponies). They are so fun! I would love to visit here again and again.

Lindsborg is a neat little town with cobblestone streets and colorful residences. The downtown encompasses little shops that feature clothing, yummy eateries, several churches, a college, and a very interesting thrift store that is very neat, clean and has a myriad of items to choose from.
The Swedish background is evident in that the dala horse figures are erected and painted in eye-catching designs. I like hard, cold ice cream and Lindsborg boasts Indigo Mood ice cream parlor set in a unique location in a building that hosts a gallery, among other shops. Take your time...it is a very interesting experience.
