It was mind-blowing to me in a most positive way that they don't spray their grass with chemicals, so my young children could safely run and crawl on the lawns. This is awesome, and there were not too many bugs as my husband thought! They also have a little organic farm, and source their restaurant with produce from there. Clean and tasty food, another awesome thing. I wish the eggs for breakfast would be made consistently with ghee butter instead of other inflammatory seed oils too.

    It was very peaceful.

    It was very peaceful. It was definitely a way from the hustle and bustle of the city. It had gorgeous views of the mountains and the river was beautiful. The house was very welcoming and the beds were very comfortable. It was nice being able to cook our own meals. There a little Walmart about 30 minutes from the house. It's not too far from Carl Sandburg's house. And a bunch of walking trails with waterfalls. Will definitely book again.

    Wey beautiful mountainous area.

    Wey beautiful mountainous area. Lots of trails and nature to see. Water falls and streams to explore. Wonderful visitor areas with a Ranger station at the entrance with a great warmup trail in the hill behind it. The center at the top of the road before you get to the blue ridge parkway has a great area for east walking and history as well. Make sure you take some time to play I. The streams and maybe even sliding rock if it’s not too busy($$). Horse riding and camping are also available. This parkway is usually my first stop into the mountains of western NC and unless I’m in a hurry(don’t know why I would be) it’s always a great hour or 2 hiking and playing in streams on the way to the blue ridge parkway.

    We were staying here as we went to see the Blue Ghost...

    We were staying here as we went to see the Blue Ghost fireflies at the Cradle of Forestry. The Falls Landing restaurant was wonderful. Also got to see the white squirrels at Brevard College. So much to do in the area.
